Butcher’s Belt

Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement)

This thick leather belt is nicked and scratched from years of use. Knives hang from hooks on either side and its wrought-iron buckle bears a worn engraving of a vulture. While wearing this belt, you gain advantage on Survival checks and a +1 bonus on Constitution saving throws.

There are two Butcher’s Knives attached to this belt by hooks. If a knife leaves its wielder’s hand, it is instantly teleported to its hook, requiring no free object interaction to sheath. Each knife is a magic weapon that grants a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. While wearing the Butcher’s Belt, you are considered proficient with that weapon if you are not already. They have the following properties:

Cleaver.

Melee weapon (simple, axe)

This knife deals 1d6 slashing damage. When you roll a 20 on your attack roll, the target takes an extra 7 slashing damage and you gain a number of hit points equal to the base damage of the d6. You can not exceed your hit point maximum in this manner.

Carving Knife.

Melee weapon (simple, knife)

This knife deals 1d3 slashing damage. While wielding this knife, you gain insight into the physical anatomy of humanoids and can target their weak points. You gain advantage on attack rolls made against humanoids with this knife. Humanoids that take damage from this knife must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw, losing 5 feet of movement on a failed save. Speed lost in this manner is regained after a short or long rest.

Achan was a renowned hunter and recluse who would spend days tracking his prey. The few times that he came into town, it was only to trade fresh meat for supplies before heading back into the woods in search of the next hunt. Achan was known to hunt odd animals and the strange taste of the meats went unnoticed until years later when it was discovered that sometimes his prey walked on two legs.
