Parts of this episode are pure manga. Parts are not. The only episodes you should skip are the ones that are 100% filler as mentioned on animefiller list. animefillerlist.com has the most accurate list i’ve seen ...episode 55 was correctly considered mixed filler/cannon so you guys can check that out to refer to moving forward .... the real real filler is usually when they get sent off to some random mission to save random people

To Explain the Hokage’s in Naruto: Each Hokage is picked based on that ninjas skill, lineage, achievements or accomplishments. So far in the leaf village there are only Four that was Hokage over the expand of years (not specifying for spoiler reasons) and a Hokage can only leave his position if another Hokage is already picked and can be reinstated if the current Hokage has died (which happened with the Third and Fourth Hokage)
