Issue #34: Rebuilding the Blue Bomber – July/August 2018

Absence really does make the heart grow fonder.

There was a time, years ago, when Mega Man fans were feeling mega-fatigued. Capcom was publishing so many sequels in so many spin-off series so close together to each other that it was impossible to keep up! Looking back on it now, we should have foreseen the brand's crash long before it finally happened. Perhaps some did.

But now that Mega Man has been almost entirely inactive for the past several years, I can't wait to play his latest sequel, Mega Man 11! Had Capcom kept pumping out more and more Mega Man games with that same frenzied pace, then there would be almost no excitement to support this one. It would be "just another Mega Man game." But given a little breathing room and a fresh creative team unafraid of pushing new ideas into the 30-year-old series, and we've got the makings of a major hit on our hands!

I'm delighted to be able to present an all-new issue of NF Magazine with an all-new Mega Man sequel emblazoned across the front cover, in the same way I was thrilled to be able to present Samus Aran's revival in Metroid: Samus Returns a little less than a year ago. Since she was out of the public eye for so many years leading up to that adventure, we thought it wise to present The History of Metroid in NF #29 to get new fans caught up on her story so far. So it seemed appropriate to prepare The History of Mega Man for this edition!

Classic, numbered-sequel Mega Man, at least. We had to hold back the reins on the feature a bit, because like I said, Capcom went totally nuts with Mega Man spin-off brands years ago, so a full history of every different Mega Man would be a massive (headache-inducing) undertaking. For the purposes of preparing you for #11, it seems sufficient to get you up to speed on installments 1 through 10.

That's not all, of course! Our history feature leads into our preview of Mega Man 11 itself, we've got interviews with both Mega Man fan community icon Protodude and Takuya Aizu, the President and CEO of Inti Creates who actually brought Mega Man back to life once before, and much more! I hope you'll enjoy every Blue Bombin' bit of it!

Digital subscribers can expect to see the PDF version of this new issue pop into their inboxes within the next 24 hours.

The Magzter version for tablets, eReaders and the like will follow roughly a week from now.

And the print version, as always, is in production as I type this and will be completed, packaged and mailed out within the next week in order to get to most subscribers' physical mailboxes in early-to-mid July. The poster is mega-sized this time, making good on one of our past subscriber total goals here on Patreon, so please enjoy its extra real estate as you go on a visual Where's Waldo-style hunt to try to pick out every past Robot Master on Thor's newest "crowd of characters" art piece!

Speaking of posters, I know a lot of you are already looking ahead to what kind of wall poster we'll include in our inevitable Super Smash Bros. Ultimate issue. Would you all prefer another mega-sized poster with Nintendo's official art in the usual rectangular dimensions? A collage of the official character select screen art in the same style as the Smash Wii U poster we did back in Issue #12? Or should we go for something we've never done before and try to adapt that really long and wide Smash cast image Nintendo revealed at E3 into physical poster form? Let me know your preference!

Thanks as always for your support, NF fans! The back half of 2018 is looking like it's going to be a blast, from Mega Man 11 to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and everything in between. I'm happy to help keep your hype high!

Issue #34: Rebuilding the Blue Bomber – July/August 2018

Comments

I never received this issue. Who should I talk to about this?

Still waiting on my issue and I have DM but still waiting for reply

not bad

wowww

Guys, if you have problems with your subscription, try sending a direct message via Patreon to NintendoForce. It took a few days but Lucas replied and addressed my situation (I asked for the download link to issue 34). I think there's a better chance to get a response from a DM than a post hidden in a thread among 40+ other comments.

MISSING POSTER - Noticed that there was no MEGA-sized wall poster included with my issue #34. Is there anyway to have one sent out? I'd hate to miss out on Thor's monstrously massive masterpiece. Thanks!

I haven't gotten mine. My 12 year old has tired of me saying it will be here soon for the last two weeks. The previous ones has been pretty good about coming the first week of the month. This announcement was over a month ago. I'd just appreciate better communication from NF staff. If you're having production problems, let people know. If you're following up with my magazine delivery, then let me know. Customer care can prevent people cancelling subscriptions, and instead patiently waiting for resolution. But as it stands, it's ????

I see Nintendo Force still have Arlo have a page in the magazine. I still don't know why the crew at Nintendo Force would allow him to have a page. It's a disgrace to this otherwise good magazine. There are ao many other youtubers out there to choose from, but you chose one who has a poor knowledge of Nintendo, insists on gushing about his favourite game in every one of his youtube, is arrogant to his subscribers and ignores all the good feedback he has. I used to subscribe to his channel and for a while it was great. But I slowly realised what Arlo is really like and the reoccuring fanboisms in all of his videos. That's when I unsubscrubed to his channel. It's such a shame to see Nintendo Force include him in their magazine. If I had lived in the UK, I'd have been a physical patreon to NF. This issue of Arlo would have made me chance my patreon level down to digital only. I do not want Arlo in any physical magazines I have. However I am Australian, and because of shipping costs, I am only a digital patreon. I have been tempted to stop my digital patreon backing over this. But I realised why should I have to suffer and miss out of the rest fo the good content the magazine has because someone at Nintendo Force made the utterly terrible and disgraceful decision to give Arlo a page in the magazine. So these days I just skim read Arlo's section, just to see what uninformed garbage he is waffling on about and them move on. I wonder if Nintenfo Force actually takes patreon backer feedback (like this and others) seriously or if Nintendo Force ignore it, like Arlo ignores the feedback he gets. We shall see.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but I wouldn't go so far as to call NForce a scam -- I've been receiving my physical copies, and the last issue I received was issue #34 (Jul/Aug). I started my subscription earlier this year (spring?). I also ordered physical back issues a few months ago and they were shipped to me without a problem in timely manner. Try (again) to reach out for support? I just tweeted Lucas to get the digital download link for issue #34 because I don't think I received it.

Young Park

This is a scam. I've been a patreon for a few months at the 8.99 tier and haven't received a SINGLE physical item. I want my money back.

Your best bet is to order a copy from their store: http://www.nintendoforcemagazine.com/shop/

hi, i would love to have this issue, i paid the last week, it's possible?

Don't have mine yet either. I feel like a little kid walking to the mailbox each day hoping to see it there lol

LuvMyNES

I haven’t received my issue yet. Do you know how long it usually takes ?

It did.

Did this issue ship yet?

Justin7885

Did this issue ship yet? I just updated my address today.

Is there a way to purchase back issues? I would like to get this issue, but I just hopped on the NF bandwagon today! This looks like an awesome project! I can't wait to get my first copy!

I got mine, so nice to look at!

Just got my new issue and it's great so far. Nice work!

Definitely the E3 cast artwork

Matthew

I’d be happy with any Smash Ultimate poster, but I will vote for the super wide artwork from the Direct. December 7th can’t come soon enough!

LinkedTriforce

Smash poster!

Still waiting for my pdf file to be sent to my email...

I would like you to try to adapt that really long and wide Smash cast image Nintendo revealed at E3

BlackMN

Definitely can't wait! I think I would prefer if you guys did the Smash image that we saw at E3 for the Smash poster in the Smash ultimate issue.

Long and wide Smash Cast!!! : D

Looking forward to it! Your features that detail the history of something are always my favorite. I'd love to see you adapt the Everyone Is Here! image from E3 into a poster for the Smash issue!

Can't wait for my first issue!

jooshwells

I want the E3 image to be a poster please.

i would LOVE the super long cast art from the reveal,

I'd love to see the long and wide Smash cast image from E3. The art for that reveal was incredible. I'll be happy with whatever Smash poster you decide to include.

Kain

You always have the neatest covers. Makes you excited to check out what's inside.

I just saw this and had forgotten to change my address. I did it today, is it too late?

Mega Man is super overrated. I've never liked the series

"that really long and wide Smash cast image Nintendo revealed at E3"

Super long smash cast poster

I'd love the "Everyone is here!" poster for Smash :D

I’m a bit smashed out after they spent much of the Wii U’s big announcements on it. Here we go again. Can you tell I’m not a fan of button-mashing mayhem? That said, I suppose any poster will do, and you can donate mine to charity. ;)

Long baybeeeeee

Joshua Cummings

Agree with Jonathan (now how will I fit it in my room....hmmmmmm)

Majora

Super long smash cast poster.

The suoer long full cast E3 poster would be great!

Super long smash cast image FTW!

Love it love it love it. I’m up for a huge smash poster, but another suggestion? Octopath Traveler has amazing artwork I’d love to see get some love too. I’d hate to miss that opportunity!! Can’t wait to read everything up on Mega Man.

Zagreus

the super long E3 image would be amazing.

F C

Either of those posters would be really great to have, so I'm happy either way!

As much as I love your original art, I’d do anything to get a nice quality poster of that super long image Nintendo showed during the Smash portion of the E3 Direct.

El Pescado

Will this issue have an Arlo’s Headcanon story? Because the last issue didn’t
