A lot of Victorian art has erotic tones underneath. If I remember right, the very I idea that erotica would corrupt (peasant's) minds and has to be officially removed, was invented back then. Of course, the upper class was above such simple barbaric thoughts.

the idea that the legs of furniture was covered up due to sexual thoughts is a myth, they were just meant to protect the furniture from being scuffed up and damaged. but the fact that victorian moral attitudes insisted that people's (mostly womens) legs be covered up is true though. not that it actually stopped anyone.. for all their outward prudishness, victorian society was also ridiculously lewd and horny whenever they got a chance.
