Fortnightly update - 30-5-22

So, we left off in animating, and two things I'd neglected suddenly came back to mind-
1- Grenade Launcher animations (AGC and EGLM)
2- Edge cases (EGLM trigger assembly making regular magazine hold impossible, 10 round magazines needing their own animations)
3-Actually doing the implementation of them
This has Taken most of my time for the part fortnight.
So, starting off, needed those actual animation sequences. For the magazines variations they could simply done with a hand position, like so -

GLMs though, needed more work. The AGC could be adapted from the files I had from the HK416s, but the EGLM was whole cloth new. Fortunately, I had a rough timing already figured and layed out into an audio file (that is how I time my animations, BTW), so work went relatively smoothly.

So that stuff was the easy part. The HARD part was to come

Ho boy here we go. So, the first task in encoding all these edge cases was th EGLM animation and lemme tell you, that was a complex piece of shit, thanks to the rotational locking the barrel has, and the whole pivoting thing. I probably could have got away with doing a less fancy reload in hindsight- you know, just treating it like a 203 - but I wanted my visual flair and I'm paying for it here.
The end product though speaks for itself.

The next massive task block, as alluded to in the image above this one, was adding all the extra classes. Especially MagSwitch classes. The job is basically to added a full extra 90% more classes into the configs and that's a task I'm not even done with yet, so once I'm done writing here that's where I'll be. It's also slow going because a lot of it is inter-related script stuff, and doesn't get flagged as error by the compiler, so I'm manually testing basically every new thing as I add it.
However ,we have some in game progress, so, have at it.


So, yeah, that's where we're at this fortnight.
