RoE Stats! Plus some theft strategies.

Hi macros and growers! And yes, I can officially drop the "to-be" qualifier as a few folks have achieved official macro status in the game!

Today we're going to delve into some stats, specifically theft. Now that we have over 50 active players, it'll help give us an idea of how many of you are engaging with this feature of the game.

At the time of this post, 56 players have completed the game start process.

Of those 56 players, 17 of you have enabled theft. That's roughly 30%, so 3 in every 10 players!

Of the 17 theft enabled players, 10 of them have also enabled "theft below start". That's a roughly 59% rate, a good bit over half!

And one last stat just for fun, curiously 2 of you have enabled "theft below start" but don't allow theft...

Theft Strategies

Ok, let's get into some strategy discussion!

First, it helps to know how random targeting logic works. When you use !stealrandom, the bot logic will first look at steal-enabled players that have that category enabled, then narrows the list down to players that have size available to take. Thus, if you want to grow a specific category and don't necessarily care where you get it from, you can just random it!

Second, it's worth considering the overall growth "economy". I'm using economy in this context to refer to how growth is injected into the system and how it moves around.

Because so many players have chosen random growth strategies, a large portion of the new growth being injected into the system is, in theory, roughly equal for all players. This introduces a paradoxical scenario where steal-enabled targets are being kept pretty close to their base size.

Therefore, to ensure that there's enough growth energy to steal from theft targets, it's worth throwing them extra growth from time to time! Ironically, steal-enabled targets will likely be doing the most growing! (And shrinking!)

If you are planning to steal from someone specific, you could also inject them with growth first, then siphon off the growth energy you just gave them!
