Shale Hill Secrets | Episode 4 Part 2 released to $10+ patrons!

The time has come… Shale Hill Secrets - Episode 4 Part 2 is here!

As you all know, this new installment is going to complete Episode 4. This doesn’t mean there is not as much content as you’d expect to see in a “normal” release. It is as big as any other one (a lot bigger than some earlier episodes too). This means we have more mystery, more investigations to do and, of course, a lot more love for our MC to end this year…

So how things are going to work?

The structure of the game is set up to make sense for people playing from the start, meaning the episode is not split into two parts inside the game. So, if you choose to replay the full episode, you will be able to play this chapter exactly in the way the game direction was planned for Episode 4.

This means you will have the possibility to mix paths during the gameplay, helping the girls in a different order, taking care of the problems in the order that best suits your interests…

Our suggestion is quite simple: replay the episode and just use the skip button (TAB/Ctrl) in the scenes that you don’t want to play again. We’re pretty sure you’ll agree with us that at least two scenes of the previous release are worthy of your attention and deserve another play, right? Besides, we finalized both scenes by adding some new "especial" options that were requested by the community, so it's definitely worth checking out again!

“But guys, I don’t want to replay all of episode 4 again. What should I do?”

No problem! Ricky has developed a cheat code, so you can jump over the parts you already played. You will be able to resume your gameplay exactly from the end of the Episode 4 “part one”, with all your previous choices being intact.

How to use the cheat code

IMPORTANT: Only use the cheat code if you finished part one of Episode 4 completely the last time you played, otherwise it'll get you stuck during the investigation.

Using the cheat code is very simple to do. In the main menu of the game, make sure “Episode 4” is selected. Then, click “Cheats” and input the command Ep4part2.

Other news

OK, moving forward, we have some news about other things we also added to the game. We understand that the animations for the first scene (Emily in the Ep2) were not at the same level as the other ones you can see in the rest of the SHS. With that in mind, we made an effort and remade some of the animations for that scene. We believe you should take a look and replay that one and see for yourself!

Install Instructions

IMPORTANT: Do not play previous builds (0.1.x, 0.2.x etc). Always play the latest build available (it contains all the episodes). Since we are constantly improving the engine, executing a previous build after you've ran a newer one could corrupt your progress.

You don't need to create an itch account. Just click "Connect with Patreon" > "Allow" > "Download". If you have cancelled your pledge, Itch may not allow you to access the downloads. Please re-enable your pledge (you won't be charged again) to download the files. Then you can cancel it afterwards.

Windows

Download the file below, extract the zipped file to a location of your choice and then run the Shale Hill Secrets executable. The game should open straight away after this. Do not try to run the executable without unzipping it first or you’ll get an error message! Do not mix these files with previous releases! This release contains all the episodes.

macOS

Double click Install Shale Hill Secrets.dmg. Then, in the window that opens, drag and drop the app to the Applications folder.

If the DMG file doesn't open, this means Gatekeeper could have quarantined it. It can be fixed by running this command in Terminal:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine $HOME/Downloads/Install\ Shale\ Hill\ Secrets\ v0.4.8.dmg

Android

Your device needs to be able to install APKs outside of the Play Store. If it isn't, you need to enable that option first. 

After downloading the file, open the APK and select "update". Don't uninstall the previous version or you might lost your progress.
