Also, wanted to say so excited that we are on this arc now. Thinking about what is to come soon and down the line, it really does just keep getting better and better. Looking forward to the reactions for this crazy and amazing journey

You have to remember for Usopp it's not just about Merry. He is using this as an excuse/opportunity to bring up his insecurities about being to weak to be in Luffy's crew. Its why Oda had so many people calling Usopp weak during the first few episodes of this arc (maybe even back in Long Long Island). He is afraid he will get abandoned because he isn't strong enough to keep up with the rest of the crew, especially after the Aokiji encounter, so he is deciding to run away first essentially.

These two episodes were difficult to see to say the least. It doesn't matter how many times I've seen this, it still breaks my heart. It's tough on everyone but the one's that are the most affected are Luffy, Usopp, and the Merry. All for different reasons and yet for the same reasons. I like how Zoro helps in reminding Luffy what it means to be Captain. Not wavering and backing down on decisions being made. It's hard times like these, the crew look towards the Captain for strength and guidance the most and Luffy has to bear this burden for their sake. The Merry and Luffy crying scenes, gets me every time :(

Right-Hand Man

I can´t with this show, I love it so much, the epic scenes, the goofy scenes, the wholesome scenes but also the serious, dark and sad scenes aswell. It is written so well, because you can feel and understand Ussops aswell as Luffys feelings and that is what makes it so hard to watch. I don´t even think that it is pride or that there is "too much" of it, the reasons for the duel are much deper than Luffy having to keep up the pride, but to be anker of the crew, to hold them together and stand for them and not play a pirate game where he plays captain. Hard decisions have to be done by him and the crew has to trust, that those decision are the best for everyone, including Ussop and The Merry Go. He also duels him because Ussop won´t ever understand it in any other way endangering him to set sail with Merry and killing himself. Both have valid feelings and everyone respects each others.

Ender

Usopp's feelings are understandable. He knows he's one of the weakest in the crew and also doesn't have a designated role like the others, so when he hears Luffy say they'll go on without Merry, to him, Luffy is just abandoning a crew member because they're weak, so Usopp probably fears that happening to him as well.

These episodes are so fkn raw lol. The argument Luffy and Usopp had felt so human. I love the way everyone on the ship reacted in different ways. They have such well established personalities that they feel like real people. Their argument felt like a real family argument that just went too far I think Luffy didn't tell Usopp straight away about the Merry not being fixable because he didn't want to say the words, like it hurt too much to say them. That's my headcanon. Thanks for the reactions, can't wait for more!
