I'm approaching the final 2 weeks of my 4 month backpacking trip, and you know what, I'm excited to be going home. But I'm even more excited about eating a fucking Vegemite sandwich on white bread (gluten free hehe).
These past 4 months has been ALOT on my mental health. It's the longest I've been overseas and uprooted from daily routine. But I walked into this trip knowing it was going to be about self healing and growth. Of course experiencing different cultures and countries aswel but mostly it was for me. Understanding what I was capable of, knowing my limits and boundaries. And uncovering a different part of myself that I wouldn't have discovered within the comfort of my home country.
One of my favourite parts of returning home from an overseas trip, no matter how long I had been traveling for, is to journal on the plane. I put pen to paper & I wrote about what I had learnt during my time away. That would include travel tips for my future self, friends I had made, conversations had and things I had learnt. I'm so looking forward to doing this in a few weeks time!
You know what else I'm looking forward to? A hot fucking shower 🤣 Turns out a hot shower are a damn luxury in south east asia and if the accommodation uses it as a selling point, don't count on it.
