I was recently asked the question - 'Do you think it’s more difficult to be involved in naturism being a female?'. My instant reaction was 'NAH, NOT REALLY' But then I paused for a moment to not only think about myself but ALL women.
Yes. It is very difficult.
Because come on, isn't the entire point of a woman's nakedness for male tantalization?
Many people seem confounded by expressions of female nudity that are not sexual as we view a woman taking her clothes off as being sexually suggestive.
Seeing a woman naked can spark many instant thoughts & emotions - attention seeker, available, sex object, public consumption - when simply, in this case, it is an expression of the woman's freedom.
But I will be the first to admit we lack female leadership in the naturist community. Women are involved yet play the victim. Pointing the finger, saying men are the reason women stay behind closed doors and do not attend nudist events.
But are men really the issue here? A study was done by the University of Michigan with both male and female participants. Cognitive tasks were performed by wearing either a bathing suit or fully clothed. The females wearing minimal clothing were said to have performed worse meanwhile the difference didn't affect the men at all!
But here's the thing, one of the most shameful insults to a man is that he is not masculine. For a woman, it is that she is a slut. A man holds pride in boasting about the number of women he sleeps with but for a woman to do so is met with shame. Withhold sex and you are being prudish, acting seductive and you are being manipulative.
And so around we go. Women are shamed for their sexuality which results in the fear of their own naked bodies. But what is forgotten is nudity isn't sexual, your behavior is. This is where the power a woman has over her own body can be taken back.
Social nudity is healing women from generational trauma and I'm so fucking here for it!
