Chapter 8

Hearing Chen Le's words, I flew into a rage, tackling him to the ground. My fists, filled with fury, rained down on his body. Even when his face was covered in blood, I had no intention of stopping. It wasn't until passersby saw us and pulled me apart that I stopped, but I still struggled against their grip, wanting to land a few more kicks. Only after I calmed down, looking at the motionless Chen Le on the ground, did my anger slightly subside. I just stood there, glaring at him viciously. A few minutes later, an ambulance arrived and took Chen Le away.

I paid it no mind and went straight home. Unexpectedly, Chen Le had reported me to the police directly from the hospital and even requested an injury assessment. Naturally, I was brought to the police station. When I heard from the police that Chen Le's explanation was that I had attacked him over a disagreement during a basketball game.

Not long after, my mom bailed me out from the police station. She was expressionless the entire time. Just as I was about to say something, she stopped me. I could only obediently follow behind her.

Once we got home, my mom said, "You've never had a dispute with a classmate before, from childhood until now. What happened this time? And you even injured someone."

"Mom, it's nothing. We just had a disagreement while playing basketball."

A moment later, Teacher Qin and Xinran arrived. Teacher Qin walked over to my mom and sat down beside her, not even glancing at me once. Xinran came to my side, offered a few words of comfort, and then went home. Seeing the silent Teacher Qin and my mom, I could only go upstairs bored. Just as I was about to close my door, I heard Teacher Qin say, "I just came from visiting Chen Le at the hospital."

Hearing this, I left the door slightly ajar to listen carefully. "What did he say?" my mom asked, holding Teacher Qin's hands, clearly agitated. Although it was just a fight between kids, we were both over eighteen, so the situation could be as big or as small as one made it.

"Officer, how is Chen Le doing at the hospital?" I asked. Although I had hit him hard, it wasn't enough to cause a serious injury. As long as he wasn't seriously hurt, I figured the most I would have to do was pay some compensation. Once I got out and told my mom the truth, all of Chen Le's plans would be ruined.

"He has a Level 7 injury for now. That's enough, let's go," the police officer said expressionlessly.

"How is that possible? Officer, you must be mistaken. I didn't hit him that hard. How could it be a Level 7 injury?" After hearing the officer's words, not only was I shocked, but Teacher Qin also quickly rushed over to the police and asked anxiously.
