Artificial wombs. What are they and what role will they play in health care? Plus Ben Zhao, a professor at the University of Chicago, has created a tool called Nightshade that lets creators fight back by “poisoning” their works to prevent LLM models from training on it without permission. And is POSSE, Publish on your Own Site, Syndicate Everywhere, the solution to decentralizing the social media space.

Scavenger Party at Roger's - GDI 4631 starts at 36:12

A Dutch company is hoping to test IVF in space. Immortality is harder than just making babies. Space talk takes over. Would you ever live in The Belt? You need to have 5 very special people. Tom has a good Sci Fi book recommendation. Will Roger send his kids to Jupiter?  The group discussed what we need to survive long term off the planet. It all comes back to potatoes. Roger wants to colonize Mars with bees. Do you think moths are cute? Roger is at war with some coyotes. Sarah saw a gang of racoons.

Tom Merritt, Sarah Lane, Annalee Newitz, Roger Chang, Joe.

Yeah if you read the David Pierce article he mentions the Indie Web

Daily Tech News Show

Or at least be very confusing! I like it

Daily Tech News Show

Hey DTNS Team, ya'll were talk'n about the POSSE principle, hope I got that acroymn right, Post On Site Share Everywhere; anywho you know what I mean, if I botched that. Anywho, I was suprised I didn't hear the old term "Indie Web", I often recall Kevin Marks appearing on This Week in Google, an talking about all these Indie Web technolgies, protocls and the like, that would allow you to distribute out of a centrel place, and then gather back the feedback from all the various places you **shared everywhere**. But best as I recall Kevin and folks like him were big behind concepts like the Mstadon Fedaverse, and notions like that. Anywho, figured I share, love the show.

David Ward

The poison image story is making me want to see an image generator entirely trained on poisoned images, could get some really cool surreal art from it
