Will we have lawsuits on what the AI models are trained on? How many fingers are too many fingers? Should you be able to copyright physical movements? How does the Fair Use argument work with all the AI creations? Where do all the pixels get placed? Will we have black market training models? Are you polite to the AI? Should there be a licensing path for AI creations?

They cancelled that revision, but the community of DnD players are now highly aware of Wizards looking to monetize the content that players and community members make. My hypothesis is that event combined with experiences of artists finding AI's built on their creations without their permission is causing Wizards to be very cautious.

2023-08-08 20:42:03 +0000 UTCA quick thought on the extended conversation about D&D - I spend time in the online D&D community and the discovery of AI content comes on the tail of a dust-up last January where Wizards of the Coast announced they were retroactively revoking their Open Game License, which was essentially Creative Commons style licensing for the core mechanics in D&D. This caused an uproar because of all the creative work and even businesses people have built using that license which was potentially impacted. The way the revision was worded it would have effected both future and past works done with the Open Game License, allowing Wizards of the Coast to collect fees from any creators.
