As some of you might know, the growth of the Peace Island project prompted us to recently consider renting a small room at a co-working space around the corner from our apartment. Such would have been desirable, as the project is still being run out of my bedroom - which is a rather odd place to have meetings, and demo the project.
Unfortunately, they do not have any office spaces available for another seven months. They offered to rent us a desk for 300 a month - which, to be quite frank - would be an absolute waste of the money that you folks have trusted us with:
Pay three hundred dollars a month to work at just another desk? Simply insane.
There are rooms available at other co-working spaces in Portland, but as neither of us own (or want) a car, we really don't feel like hiking halfway across town to get work done.
So, we're emptying out a 5X6 foot storage area in our apartment (pictured above), and using it as an office, going forward.
A single expenditure on improving shelving & storage would be less than the monthly rent on an external office - a far better use of your funding!
