Jailbreak Your Car - DTNS 4409 Extended

What’s the problem with a subscription model to “unlock” features on a car you already own? And we examine the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act. A bill that enables news organizations to collectively negotiate with online platforms for increased revenue share. Plus we hear back from listeners who work in the trucking business on our discussion yesterday about the near-term feasibility of autonomous trucking.

Persimmon of Interest - GDI 4409 starts at 33:03

Has John found his groove? Are you looking for egg recipes? Well John’s wife might have what you're looking for. Wait it out till the eggs are free. So many egg puns. John thinks it’s ice cream season and has strong thoughts on persimmon. Do you make homemade ice cream? Do you prefer your mint ice cream to be white? Do you like custard or ice cream more? Have you juiced a pomegranate? So much shave ice talk.

Starring Tom Merritt, Sarah Lane, John C. Dvorak, Roger Chang, Joe.

Yeah if the rice is right I see your logic

Daily Tech News Show

I am completely on board with the "services as a subscription" plan for cars. Two years ago when I purchased my new car, I couldn't afford all the options I would have liked. But today I can. Do I have to trade my car in, lose the value in the trade, and get a new car with the options I wanted? No. Now I could pay for the upgrades or add as a service and enjoy the features I would have bought two years ago. Or I could sell my car and the new owner could add the options they want. This sounds like a wonderful idea. Also, it cheaper for the manufactures to build all the cars the same and disable options you haven't paid for instead of customizing the car for the options you choose and waiting months for it to be delivered. This is a win-win all around.
