I may be late to the questions and answers, but is there any reason for the Channel 5 name? It does sound like a Public-Access TV channel, which suits, but it also makes it impossible to discover on most other sites that aren't Patreon. In the UK we have Channel 5, which is garbage, and I'm sure there are myriad others who have their own version of a Channel 5. Is it to do with Tim and Eric's Channel 5? That would track, but at the minute it's a bit on the wrong side of the scales of memorability and uniqueness, unlike AGNB was. (Noah fence intended, ofc)

Most of them had a good experience, but then they were wanting them to convert. They make some amazing food! Their food chain is called the yellow deli, you’re probably familiar. I grew up in mostly Capitol Hill (Seattle) and Downtown Seattle, bustling inner-city neighborhoods that were ravaged by the gentrification after Amazon built out its corporate campus in Downtown Seattle around 2013. Theoretically, Amazon moving in meant economic growth for Seattle. However, much like San Francisco, the City of Seattle decided to tax Amazon literally 0%, in what I’m assuming was a political move to ensure that Bezos was getting as rich as possible and wouldn’t jump ship and move his company elsewhere. This meant Seattle received ZERO tax dollars from hosting the largest tech company in the world. San Francisco made the same mistake. They got too excited. Not to mention, Amazon imported 90% of it's workers from out of town on 16-month employment residencies, so most Amazon employees no real intention of planting roots in the community — such as becoming homeowners or starting small businesses. At one point, there was 1,600 Amazon techies moving to Seattle every week, and we had more construction cranes than any other city in the world besides Dubai. Within two years, in cahoots with real estate developers like ‘AVA,’ who specialize in building tacky, IKEA-looking ‘modern’ massive glass condos as fast as possible, Amazon basically bulldozed Capitol Hill (historic gayborhood), and the Central District (historic Black neighborhood) to build glorified college dorms for its workers. With it came a barrage of dispensaries, yoga studios, axe throwing breweries .. bullshit non-essential businesses only available to those with disposable income. Within a couple years, my home neighborhood became unrecognizable. My parents were priced out. Everyone I knew from the neighborhood was gone, typically pushed to outer southern suburbs like Kent, Renton and Des Moines. All Seattle kids with any creative ambition left immediately. Seattle’s once-vibrant Black community in the Central District essentially vanished, and Capitol Hill, once a place where I’d see grown men walked around in gimp suits, is a frat bro watering hole for Seattle University and UW students. I see the same thing happening in so many cities across the country, particularly in ‘progressive’ cities, where you see blocks packed with yuppies, and gentrified businesses covered with pride flags and Black Lives Matter where Black and Brown families who were forced out of their homies by predatory real estate developer just years ago. The corner of 23rd and Union and 23rd and Jackson Seattle, where I spent the majority of my middle school years, sometimes literally makes me shed a tear of nostalgia and anger. I talk about it a lot because it represents the cultural death of my community and the agenda of neoliberal ‘progressives’ in gentrified corridors isn’t really talked about in the whole Lib vs. Conservative framework.
