Back in the saddle
Added 2014-09-19 14:24:46 +0000 UTCYesterday Jennie and I met to talk about things for the future of DTNS. We're going to set a new Patreon level for another added contributor similar to Patrick Beja. Not saying who yet because we have a couple options (No, none of them are Molly, sorry). But look for that info soon. I've also asked Jennie to start working on improving the video in ways that won't cost us anything. I'd like to spend more money on people contributing to the show, which would mean increasing the funding we'd need to reach the video goal. But I know there's a lot she could pull off magically with little or no money. We're already adding the video to the official DTNS YouTube channel. So look there for anything we come up with. NEW YORK WEEK! The week of Oct. 13-17, I'll be in New York since my wife will be working out there the entire month of October. Jennie's going to kick my ass and make me set up a meetup while I'm out there. I'm also talking to Iyaz, Dan Patterson, and Andrew Zarian about doing the show in person. Any other NYers you'd like to see? Specials. We had some ideas about doing more interview specials. Maybe Tom Wheeler has some free time? Stuff like that. Store? We may have a store sometime. We talked about it. What kind of stuff would you want in it? Books! One thing to go in a store would be books. I'm considering doing some kind of ebook single on podcasting. I'm even encouraging Jennie to take pen to-- keys to-- write an ebook. And one more immense THANK YOU. Your support and understanding is insane. We're ridiculously appreciative of every single one of you. Thank you so much for the faith you've shown in DTNS. We hope to make it better all the time! Cheers, Tom on behalf of Jennie

2014-09-19 20:21:32 +0000 UTCTom, I'm one of your quieter lurker patrons. (I've been around since you started accepting Patreon.) I don't post often but since I know you'll read this, I just wanted to say thanks for giving me such a good tech show to listen to every day. The commitment you and Jennie have to keeping this show going no matter what is awesome. (Makes me feel downright lazy.) I'll be traveling myself the next few weeks (gonna be in Disney World celebrating my b-day and doing some travel blogging), but I'll have DTNS to keep me connected while I'm waiting in line somewhere. Definitely see if Mary Jo can guest in NY. Windows 9 is huge news to us MS-biased folks who held off on Win 8 because of the problems. She also knows the best places to sample microbrews. Gina Tripani is also in NYC if Google gets around to dropping news on the new Nexus devices or their Google Wallet updates that week.

2014-09-19 15:36:36 +0000 UTCMary Jo would be great if she is possible. Maybe an interview bonus instead of a co-hosting thing though. Discussing threshold/Windows 9. Thank you for all the great work.

2014-09-19 15:23:29 +0000 UTCYes Mary Joe! Also, I'd buy 100 copies of your podcast ebook since I have my own podcast. How to stuff, tech, hosting, putting together the perfect show etc. That'd be so cool!

2014-09-19 15:22:23 +0000 UTCMaybe it would be too early in your trip, however I'll point out that Oct 13 is a federal holiday for all us Gov employees out there who would love to go to a meet up/live show/whatever you end up doing. Just saying.
