That's not heretical at all! The problem with historical games for me is that I love fantasy so much, and less so history (sorry mom). Because of this, I find the sculpts less compelling but I bet the games are amazing and I'd be totally willing to play some!

At the risk of sounding heretical... many of the game mechanisms you describe in ASOIAF (alternating moves, use of initiative, etc.), are common in - wait for it - historical wargaming...
