The MCU really doesn't point it out but in Hulk speech "The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets." Technically speaking this isn't quite comic lore accurate but it is the best way Hulk can describe it. More accurately: Anytime Hulk's metabolism is challenged or pushed, it will augment itself until it can counter that opposition. The Abomination's base strength is higher than Hulk's base strength. What the Abomination did not know is if you cannot knock out Hulk early in a fight, Hulk will continue to get stronger until he beats you. In the comics, if a foe is too fast for Hulk and speed is the challenge Hulk needs to physically overcome, the Hulk will actually start moving faster as the fight progresses. The comic lore states Hulk's potential is unlimited but with one exception - Hulk's only real limitation is Bruce Banners subconscious buried inside that holds him back and can weaken him (or change back to Banner). That is why Hulk hates "Puny Banner."
