Bates Motel

As many of you likely have noticed, Bates Motel has been on hold for a while now. The reason that show was started was it was supported on our $100 tier. The person who chose that show has decided to no longer continue to be on that tier.

So we are asking if someone would like to continue supporting that series before we open up a new spot on the $100 tier. There are 30 episodes remaining and 4 have already been paid for (it made more sense to pause at the season break). We can discount the final two episodes so it would take 6 more months to complete the series.

If anyone is interested in funding this show, please let Lacey or Craig know and we can open the tier up for one more user. If nobody does want to do this, we will eventually open the tier up for a new show to react to.

Thank you.

Hey Lacey, I hope if you read what I have said that you can see I didn't think that it was all about the money for you or Steve. What I was saying is how the $100 tier is working at the moment makes it look like you are more about the money. I did just make some further replies above (which I thought were to Craig) so maybe those can help clarify what I was trying to say? I do love both of you guys and do not believe that you would want to look like you are doing things more for the money than the community, which is exactly why I have said what I have about the $100 tier, to me the way it is working does make you look like that. Of course, I understand you need to make money from this, and deservedly so. I'm not saying that a $100 tier or even a $500 tier would be too much for what you do, I know how much work it is and you deserve to be well paid for your work. I'm just saying that whatever people get from those tiers should not impact whether or not you continue or finish reacting to a show. By making the availability of the reactions reliant on a continued payment you are making it possible for your reactions to stop and be withheld from your audience, which is not a good thing for a reaction based community and I care about this community so I don't like to see things that can cause them to be disappointed at not being able to see reactions or that can cause discontent amongst the community. I'm not even speaking about myself being disappointed here, this hasn't directly affected me yet. The show that is being stopped reacting to I don't even like or watch the reactions but I know other people in the community do and they are going to be disappointed now. I just want you two (Steve and Lacey) to continue to grow and get bigger and bigger but I know that having things in place that can leave your supporters disappointed doesn't help you achieve that. Please don't be disheartened by what I have said. I'm only trying to offer advice to help you avoid disappointing your supporters. I'll leave it at that and not add anything more. Whatever you do just know I love you guys and think you are both amazing and want nothing but the best for you. Mark.

Craig, I understand why S&L have to stop watching the reactions when someone stops paying with how the $100 tier currently works, to be fair to everyone else who is paying, as you say. What I am saying is don't have anyone paying for S&L to react to shows in the first place. The reactions should always be there, regardless of anyone paying, the reactions are what S&L are known for and taking the reactions away from their audience because the audience hasn't paid for them, is turning the whole thing into a business rather than what I understand it is supposed to be. If S&L are trying to change from a community reaction channel into a paid reaction business then that's fine, they are going in the right direction, but if they want to stay as a community-based reaction channel then their reactions should always be available to their audience regardless of any payment and the only thing people should be paying for are little extras and privileges, such as early access, full reactions and yes, at higher tiers, they should be able to have a movie or tv show added to what S&L are going to react to but it should only be that; they get to choose a movie or tv show and then S&L will react to it, in full, regardless of any further payments, that way S&L are not holding their reactions back from their audience in lieu of payment. Holding the reactions back in lieu of payment makes it a business.

Also, just because we have to stop reacting to it NOW, does not mean we will never start reacting to it again... like what was stated above... we do WANT to continue reacting to it now, that is why we are even posting this in the first place. And the fact that you are stating that this appears as if we are all about the money is rather disheartening for me to hear from you Mark. I thought you knew us better than that. I made these boundaries and rules for a reason, and it wasn't because of the money. I set the price where it is because watching/reacting takes time. Editing takes TIME and energy. Sure, Craig edits our Full Reactions, but guess what... I PAY him to do that. We watch several shows per week, and with every show we add to that list.. that is more time. This is my job... this is what I do for a living now. I left my job at State Farm, to do this full time. State Farm was an amazing job that I enjoyed... however, I LOVE doing this. This allows me to be home with my kids, and do something I love. It allows me to meet new amazing people, be an influencer, and edit which I love. But with all of that being said... to some extent... time IS money. It has to be worth it, it has to make sense fiscally. Otherwise I would never of left my amazing job at State Farm. I hope that you can at least understand that I am still a mother and a human being, and that I still need to be able to raise my kids, put food on their plates, put a roof over their heads, keep the bills paid, etc... plus if my job is taking away time from them... that it is worth it by helping to provide all those other things. ~ Lacey

Mark, just to throw in my two cents on this matter.... if we start watching a show because someone joins the $100 tier... and let's say we love the show... And then after a few months that person leaves... and we continue to watch the show and react to it BECAUSE we love it so much... what is to stop anyone else in that tier from then doing the same thing and leaving that tier? It is explicitly stated on the tier description that we will continue to react to the show as long as they remain in that tier. If we continue to react to a show after that person is no longer paying for it, it also devalues everyone else who REMAINS in that tier and continues paying for their show. We as content creators have to set boundaries and rules on how we do things, otherwise we would be taken advantage of in situations like that... or we would overwork ourselves. The people who join that tier are well aware of the commitment on their side, and ours... and by joining, they agree to that. I am also very open to communication as well, and am willing to work with people once they join. You can ask Anthony who pays for Into the Badlands how well I have worked with him over the months on different things.
