It feels like there were things cut from this episode too, we barely get Jake lamenting about his purpose in life from the synopsis. Hoping episode 4 ends everything smoothly.

AHEM ANYWAYS— as from when I posted this comment, I am indeed a DAY late to the video ughhhh 😞 I thought Tom’s mother and father got into a huge fight and then some… knife violence occurred… to put it short, I though Tom’s mother died in front of him and he got trauma from that. But nope, his mom is happy and healthy ❤️ Can’t wait for the next episode, let’s hope I won’t be late again. Also excited for season 4 💖

2024-10-23 18:05:22 +0000 UTCIt was so nice to see Tom's mother! She's such a beautiful person inside and out. You can really tell how much she cares for Tom. I, at first, was curious why she hadn't seen him in awhile. After thinking about it, seems like being a spy is a family thing? She's a secret agent and, if I'm not mistaken, so is Tom's sibling being that they're "abroad" right now. Love seeing that touched upon so subtly. But it appears that Tom wants to find something to help people but also himself. Being a spy or a cop isn't what he aspires to be anymore, so I'm excited to see what the next episode will bring and if he'll decide then. Next episode looks like it will be a really interesting one, too, with Jake's brother popping up next. I was really proud of Jake this episode for sticking up for himself and telling his father how he truly felt. It's not easy to defend yourself when you've dealt with so much insecurity and have been beaten up by life, so it was really rewarding to see that from Jake. Overall, great episode! Lots to see in such a short amount of time. Only thing I'd like to mention as a nitpick is the fact that Jake and Tom aren't wearing seatbelts while in the car. Something felt a little off while I was watching and it finally clicked halfway through their conversation that they were not practicing car safety 😂

My only real issue with it is that EP3 was also summarized as Jake trying to find a purpose to his life which didn't feel like it was touched too much upon? I mean it was, and it probably is a continuation that goes into episode 4 with Shawn. I'm not saying it's a bad episode and Tom absolutely needed that screentime. The summary felt more dramatic than what was shown to us. I'm still hopeful for EP4. So far ONC have not disappointed me.

2024-10-23 03:14:27 +0000 UTCJake didn't "approach" him with the knife. Tom saw the knife, and his traumas kicked in by having the image of Jake holding it dramatically. That's how trauma works. Jake didn't realize he had a panic attack until after he was told to put the knife down. He also did not ignore it. Jake did everything for Tom. That's why he got Tom's mom to come over so he could properly process his childhood trauma.

It’s also worth noting that Lucia is pretty much a supporting character in this spinoff series yet she appeared with her fellow police officers in Camp Tipiskaw during the DC Season One finale. Jared has confirmed NUMEROUS times that Camp Tipiskaw does NOT take place in Canada. Maybe Lucia transferred to another country after Season 1 ended. If so, it’s a crazy coincidence that it would be in the same country, province, AND city that Tom, Jake, and Miriam all reside in. Lol! Miriam probably moved to Toronto to be closer to Jake after she won Season 1. 🤷♂️🧐 Lots of questions that I hope Jared’s willing to answer one day on Twitter.

What were the chances that Jake, Tom, & Miriam would live in the same city when they were selected for the show initially? Sure, that's only 3 people of the whole pool, but the creators have constantly implied that the show's contestants come from more than just one city. Ellie was in fashion school in NYC. So, could another barely mentioned character be relevant to another backstory? It's not impossible, and it's not improbable.

The awkward shoulder pat Ellie and Jake gave was hilarious, especially Gabby pushing Ellie to hug Jake. 🤣 Tom’s mother sure was a delight and apparently a spy! Explains why Tom did it, since he made it clear in a greeting that she’s his greatest inspiration. Damn shame that Tom’s father was abusive. I was hoping for better, but hey, that’s a drama series for you! Jake telling his father off was my favorite part of the episode. It sure was brave of Jake to make the first move calling that prick. I’m a little disappointed Jake’s parents didn’t physically appear. I could have sworn I read they were. Hopefully, they do in the next episode. If we’re lucky, Shawn’s appearance will serve as the bridge to help us learn more about Jake’s family. 9.8/10

I know it was said how but just how did it get that bad?! -Tom's mom is definitely a ray of sunshine, and I never could've imagined she'd be a spy! Honestly, Cool mom with a capital C. Tom and Jake's fathers though can rot in hell for all I care, Tom's for being a shitty little coward, and Jake's father for his narcissism. -Seeing Jake struggling with the fact that his family isn't supportive was so sad to see, especially coming from someone who had to leave their family behind too. That being said, I'm proud with how he's coping with this, knowing that he has a family with Miriam and Tom. -Lucía was such an MVP, taking in the sh*t this asshole Johnson's workers, who the hell stands up for someone who beats someone down with a baton?!? And a fellow officer at that! Her calling Tom "Tommy" legit got my so giddy, she's such a good friend. -And finally, that cliffhanger, Tom arranging Jake to meet Shawn. So, I have mixed feelings on this; While I feel that seeing Shawn may give some sort of closure for Jake, I don't know if Shawn is like his parents or is just generally on the fence with Jake. Either way, this final episode is definitely going to shake things up for our resident twinky boy! Heartwarming episode, looking forward to the finale and a happy birthday to Miriam!

The writers team handled this episode so well especially when looking at Tom and Jake's homelife growing up and the horrors they both had to face there respectively. I could be wrong about this but I think the episode alluded to Tom's mother killing his father in self defence after years of abuse and that's why she's always on the run (actress Charlize Theron had a similar story growing up) but it would be good to see her again to learn a bit more and she seems like a real angel plus she loves Jake just as much as me and Tom do. Bonus! Jake confronting his father over the phone was such a powerful moment and I swear I get more and more proud of him as more of his story unfolds, power to you my friend. Now that his parents have been supposedly written out of his life for good, the only question is what will happen now that Shawn is back in the picture? Although it was good to see at least one member each of their blood family, what touched me the most was how Tom and Jake's chosen family they've created have rallied behind them both in this more serious episode, they both deserve the love they get from them and I can't wait to see what Miriam's birthday will be like next week with them all together. All my love to you guys and ONC for making this amazing story and I can't wait for next week's conclusion to the miniseries and the start of the new Disventure Camp season very soon.
