Like with everything, Joss uses magic and the supernatural to intensify things that are hard to express within the mundanity of our reality. Trauma survivors often find themselves unable to express themselves. There's a term for it because it's so common. They become mute and often suffer a form of dysphasia. It's because our language of reality is meager. It's lacking. It simply cannot express true horror. The use of monsters and horror elements give us a way to express the inexpressible. Connor is a brilliant study in trauma and every person that hates the character -- it really just says a lot about them.

2024-11-22 07:01:40 +0000 UTCThey blend the Army and Navy ranks into 1 combined military. Apollo as a Captain is in line with a Captain in the Army, not the Navy. Colonel Tigh is more = to a LT Colonel/Navy Commander. Commander Adama is = to a Navy Captain/Army Colonel. Blending the ranks would make Tigh a Commander and Adama a Colonel, but that wouldn't feel right. And with Adama being the Commanding Officer, Commander would make more sense for that, so you flip the Commander and Colonel ranks.

This did come out first and the series started (I think) about 2 years later (likely green lit because this success (I could have also just been late to the show)). Context on something you missed early on. I think Navi asked "why they don't have computers that can calculate the jump", but they do. Don't recall if theirs is damaged or they're afraid to use it in their circumstance but regardless the impressive part was that LT Gaeta plotted the jump manually by himself (something that likely very few have actually had to do outside of school in decades, for a ship comparable in size to a city). One irrelevant factish that I always found interesting (and does not affect the show at all) is that for obvious reasons they seem be using our real world Navy rank structure, but there is no Colonel rank in the Navy/Space Force. So in reality it makes no sense for Col Tigh to be the XO of the ship.

You can tell the budget has been cut drastically by the cardboard sets and poor supporting actors, and all the stories are standalone nonsense. The last 5 or 6 eps of the season are great but your kidding yourself with the rest.

Something I'm realizing just now, in part 1 of the miniseries they called Boomer "Rookie" or "Rook" So I think that means that she's new to the crew of the Galactica. Maybe she's been on the Galactica for a just few months or something. It makes sense the pilot who showed up a few months ago was a cylon.

2024-11-22 00:27:21 +0000 UTCThe Viper space fighter isn't like a X-Wing from Star Wars that flies like a normal fighter jet. Like the ships in the Expanse, the Viper utilizes real space physics and uses thrusters on several points of the ship for maneuverability which gives the fighter the ability to flip 180 degrees almost instantly. Zak Adama may have had talent to be a normal pilot but it takes a very high degree of skill to become a Viper pilot. The specifics around his death aren't really known but Kara explained that Zak had no feel for flying. Zak probably had a lot of difficulty adapting to flying in a zero-gravity environment. I also thought it was funny when the crew looked up who played the President in Independence Day but missed Mary McDonnell aka Laura Roslin played the First Lady in the film.

Everything just ramped up more and more. The Zod family was taking W’s all episode (Poor Nightwing & Rocket 😩) while Ma’alefa’ak constantly comes in clutch for them. You guys along with YaBoyRoshi are/were my favorite YJ reactors. From you guys knowing nothing to the bare minimum to wanting to hop one other DC content was so dope to see Hyped to watch yall react to the DCAMU. A couch of the YJ crew along with Spidey and Rana (since it won’t spoil anything) would be fire.

Hearing our old stomping grounds mentioned in a sci-fi show like this was really cool. Especially hearing that we're a legend to them. Loving the show so far and it hasn’t even started yet.

He has been told repeatedly that he is a weapon and he has believed that he is only capable of being “The Destroyer” meant to defeat Angelus and any other evil threat. That’s all Holtz raised him to be. Just like Buffy struggled to balance being a normal girl and the Slayer, Connor can’t see any way out of being the Destroyer, so he embraced the lie of Jasmine for some semblance of a peaceful life. If I had to make a parallel to Angel, I would say Connor is Angel at his most depressed. He’s the Angel post realization that Earth is hell, but who never got his epiphany. All season long we’ve seen parallels between father and son, but the biggest difference is that Angel constantly finds something to fight for while Connor isn’t a fighter deep down like he said. He’s just a normal boy like Buffy wants to be a normal girl. They chose a messy and irritating way of telling his story, but the concept of it works very well. Also fun fact: Don’t know if you know this, but Wolfram & Hart had a cameo in Age of Ultron. You can see people wearing wolf, ram, and hart masks in Thor’s vision in a split second shot after Wanda works her magic on him. So the Senior Partners have influence in the MCU 😏

Also it's really funny hearing Chris have some hope in a Batman contingency plan because they never work and end up making things worse

2024-11-21 17:12:57 +0000 UTCJasmine was definitely defeated a bit too easy but I think the writers wanted to bring Connors storyline to a head and use the final to bring some closure there and set up for s5. Also with Jasmine being very strong, it was probably best to take her out by surprise.

2024-11-21 17:10:19 +0000 UTC#SundayRundown I’m not a huge fan of the Jasmine storyline but I always look forward to this episode because I got married at the church that Connor walks into to find Cordy. They used a different interior but it’s a beautiful church (First Congregational Church of Los Angeles). Also, I do wish the show did a better job at showing Connor’s mindset when making his decisions because he really is a tragic character.
