I wish they were able to get Jesse back to have a conversation with Xander. Seeing Xander's perspective on life, death, fighting demons, etc would have been interesting since he is 'The Zeppo' of the group. Seeing him vulnerable and feeling sad about what happened to his self proclaimed best friend in s1 would have been big for Xander's character IMO

So far im liking this rewatch of season 7 of buffy much more than when i watched it as a teen. Didnt realize it took this long for the big bad to reveal themselves which i can see being a negative to my younger self.

#sunday rundown Buffy# one of the best episode of the show. As noted by Rana Xander wasn’t in it. It’s the second time in the show that a main credited actor doesn’t appear. The first time was Spike for the Body.
A lot of trivia is available for this very special episode. Although only two writers were credited, Jane Espenson and Drew Goddard, 4 writers contributed for the script, each for the specific conversations with dead people. Drew wrote the “trio” part, Jane wrote the Dawn one, Marti Nixon wrote the Willow part and Joss Whedon of course the Buffy and Webster conversation. Joss also wrote the song that bookended the episode.
Each one of them have a conversation with dead people, and in case of Spike, he is the dead one talking to the girl that he bites in the end. And as in every episode 7 something big is revealed.
Regarding the siring mechanics, this is not the type of show where this sort of things matters. What’s important is the symbolism and the metaphor. It’s not a show about vampire mythology.
