I love Spike as a character but for me I kind of don’t like how the show is treating the attempted rape as an impetus for character growth for the attempted rapist. Just a personal thing. Also, for some reason atonement/tortured by guilt stories just don’t do it for me (ex: Amends is one of my least favorite episodes), so the S7 beginning for me is a little rough. I do still love this season and I do still love Spike but I can see why this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, for whatever their reasons.
Anya has always been given a pass by viewers, as did Spike up until late Season 6. It’s a testament to how good/funny the actors are I think.

It’s so lovely to see when all the spike love has gone.

For Spike....Hate the Demon. It wasn't Spike the human that did those things but the Demon that did. You guys have a thing of forgetting how this Vampire thing works. The human is dead and the Demon takes over the body/memories and does those awful things. Now that his soul is back, he is humanish, somewhat again and did not do those things the true demon did. For William......forgive the human as he did nothing wrong.
How the heck is this confusing? 4 people on the couch and not one person gets this? What was the point of watching the previous 6 seasons if these questions are still being asked.
