Chapter 8 This immortal say "No more favor"

After the last class ended. Jake felt like he was going to go insane. For six hours straight, he had to sit and listen as the teacher taught him useless knowledge that he would never touch in real life. He hates scholars, and he always will.

As he stepped out of the classroom, Jake's mind yearned for freedom and excitement. The monotonous routine of sitting and listening had drained his energy, leaving him desperate for a change of pace.

After he came out of the class room, Jake went to the place where his sister told him to wait for her. They were going to do a glossary together.

As Jake arrived at the designated spot, he noticed his sister approaching with a smile on her face.

"Let's go!"

Jake nodded and followed his sister. He saw that she was very happy. He couldn't help but ask her.

"What's got you so excited?"

When his sister heard him, she looked at him with disbelief. How could he say that?

"It is sale season at our favorite store! Everything is discounted! Don't you want to eat that delicious pizza?"

She looked at him with doubtful eyes, wondering why he wasn't as enthusiastic about the sale. Usually it is he who looked forward to the sale season and all the great deals. So that he could eat more pizzas.

"Eh."

Jake's mind went blank because he already forgot that he likes to eat pizza. He used to not eat anything because, when he became immortal, he didn't need to eat to sustain himself.

"That's right! I forgot about it. Let's go there quickly!"

Jake remembered the pizza and realized that he had been missing out on one of his favorite foods. The thought of indulging in a cheesy, flavorful slice made his mouth water, and his excitement grew. He couldn't wait to devour a delicious pizza and enjoy the sale season at the same time.

Jenny smiled as she was dragged along by Jake, happy to see him so excited about the pizza he loved. She knew that it had been a while (Millon years) since he had treated himself to a good pizza.

And when they took a bus to the supermarket near their house, someone appeared.

The one who appeared was actually Emma. She was curious about him more and more. She didn't think he could show such an expression of pure joy over something as simple as pizza.

"Follow that bus."

Emma told her driver to follow the bus that Jenny and Jake were on, wanting to find out more about Jake.

At the supermarket near their house, Jake and Jenny went straight to the food section. Jake's eyes lit up as he spotted a display of freshly baked pizzas. He couldn't resist grabbing one and inhaling its mouthwatering aroma.

Unfortunately. There wasn't a place for them to eat inside the supermarket, so they decided to take the pizza home.

Emma quietly observed Jake's excitement, wondering what other simple pleasures brought him such happiness.

'Why is he so happy over such a simple discounted pizza? If he wants, he can ask me to bring him a more expensive pizza.'

Emma still didn't understand why Jake refused to accept her favor. He could get whatever he wanted. Money, food, or even a beautiful woman.

She could offer him her beautiful subordinate as a date, but he seemed content with the small joys in life.

The sibling finished shopping and was ready to head back home. Emma still couldn't shake off her curiosity about Jake. She wanted to follow him to his house, but

"You go home first. I think I forgot to buy something."

Jake spoke to Jenny.

"*Sigh* You are just seventeen and already this forgetful. Fine, I'll go home first, but you better not be up to any mischief."

"Huh? What am I? Loki? Don't worry too much."

Jenny rolled her eyes at Jake's sarcasm and playfully punched him on the arm.

"Just don't take too long, okay? Or else I am going to eat all the pizza."

"No! I won't take long, I promise. You know how much I love pizza."

Jenny just shrugged at him, then went home. Their house wasn't far from the supermarket, so he didn't worry about her getting lost. To be honest, it should be him who should be worried about getting lost, as he has forgotten almost everything.

"You can come out now, Emma."

Jake knew that someone had been secretly watching them the whole time. He had a feeling it was Emma, so he didn't do anything, as she didn't have bad intentions.

Emma was surprised to hear her name called out. She had used her psychic abilities to hide her presence, but it seemed that Jake had sensed her anyway. She cautiously stepped out of her hiding spot, wondering what he would do to her.

"Why are you following me and my sister?"

Jake asked, his voice stern.

Emma hesitated, unsure of how to explain herself. She took a deep breath and decided to be honest with Jake.

"I was just curious as to why you didn't accept my favor. You can eat a more expensive and delicious pizza if you ask me."

Seeing her confusion, Jake couldn't help but narrow his eyes. He crossed his arms and studied her carefully, trying to gauge her true intentions. And then he had a bad feeling about this.

'She seems to not realize what she has done wrong. It's as if she's completely oblivious to the fact that her favor came across as manipulative and insincere.'

Jake's suspicions grew stronger. He had met many people in the past. And there were those people who did something wrong and didn't realize it because of their upbringing.

'Those people were usually rich people from a big clan. They are good kids, but their parents never taught them about humility and sincerity. They grew up in a bubble of privilege, shielded from the consequences of their actions. It's possible that she falls into that category.'

Jake pondered this possibility, wondering if her actions were a result of ignorance rather than malicious intent.

He couldn't help but feel conflicted, torn between giving her the benefit of the doubt and trusting his gut instinct.

'And there were cases where their parents were actually evil. They intentionally raised their children to be entitled and manipulative, instilling values that prioritize personal gain over empathy and compassion.'

Jake considered the possibility that she may have been influenced by such an upbringing.

"So you caught me. What are you going to do to me? Will you punish me like those boys in the class?"

Emma asked. She thought of the possibility that he might punish her for her behavior, just like the boys in her class who had faced consequences for their actions. However, Jake's response surprised her.

"No, I don't see a reason to. You still didn't do anything that warrants punishment."

"That means if I cross the line-"

"You bet I'm going to beat you. No gender discrimination here."

Jake replied with a smirk, making Emma slightly uncomfortable. She couldn't tell if he was joking or being serious, but his response left her feeling uncertain about how he would react in certain situations.

"Now you should go to your home, and I will go to mine. And don't you dare follow me."

"B-But what about the favor-"

"Pizza. Bring me the most delicious pizza, and then we are even. No more favors after that."

Emma hesitated for a moment, unsure if she should agree to Jake's demand. However, she knew that it was the only way to settle the score and avoid any further confrontation.

With a sigh, she reluctantly agreed to bring him the pizza he desired.
