2024-09-05 20:43:25 +0000 UTCMy first job out of college (2015ish) was doing PR for SugarHouse Casino (now Rivers) in Philly. They were just opening their event space and signed the first few performers and one of them was Scott Stapp. I gave our events team HELL saying we were going to be destroyed by memes and they were like, "just wait." My job was to give reporters / influencers special access / interviews at the shows and I turned up for the Scott Stapp concert and the place is PACKED with mostly women in their 40-60s with tattooed eyeliner, cig voice, bejeweled Harley Davidson merch with crosses, etc. When Scott performed they were absolutely smashed literally THROWING THEIR BRAS at the stage and losing their minds. It was the most money the casino made in one night that entire summer. I fully trusted the booking team after that.
