#SundayRundown #Angel ... curious to know what your alls thoughts were when you discovered Anne's history in the Buffyverse. she's such an interesting character and though she's only been in 4 episodes, she has wonderful character development in each that we can easily track across the 4 episode. one of the really cool cross-show character arcs that i really love. i think Blood Money is such an underrated episode. We finally get the explanation about W&H keeping Angel in the gray area for the apocaplyse, the kind of morally gray Angel i like the best: where he's very on point and right but his humanity is still there. and wes, gunn, and cordy all bonding is so lovely to see. i liked the Boone character a lot; he was a great one-off character. i like thinking about how many people Angel has met throughout the years. these types of characters just keep adding layers upon layers to Angel's character that are so interesting.

Katey

True, but I'd argue it is more about her heartbreak than about Cordy being mean to her in the past. So Willow would've been crying in the bathroom about Xander having sex no matter who Xander got with. She is aggressive toward Cordelia, Anya AND Faith. It comes back to her being territorial over Xander, even when she was with Oz or Tara. (I edited post above and put the examples there)

Speaking about this ep specifically they are justified in their action. In context of the entire series it depends on prospective because depending on viewpoint even Buffy isn't always right.

All Mighty Lowercase Jay

They are very wrong. They've always been wrong. The show gives us multiple examples and then tells us that they are wrong.

Calvin Allen

Yeah but Cordelia treated her like shit for years completely independent of her dating Xander

Calvin Allen

Chris left Angel reactions?!

Calvin Allen

It was really important to the story before this and they still can't remember

Calvin Allen

No they should watch True Blood

Calvin Allen

And in "Lie to Me" she called herself Chanterelle.

Dara

getting "fired" at W&H is very literal, angel is fucking with them he's doing something quite similar to angelus tormenting his victims before the kill

Macs

Poppers and glory holes! Never change, Normies.

Calvin Allen

Anne that ran the teen center was same character from Buffy 3x1 as Lily but took Buffy's middle name Anne. Before that she was Chanterelle on Buffy 2x7.

Woooo Late buffy thursday almost missed it today.... omg were here not here here...Shh.... but here with the watcher council finally showing up all together... to be honest whenever i watch season 5 of buffy i always go to checkpoint first and just watch from there lol. my favorite line is the very last line from buffy: "oh" credits. best line ever. and wooo for young justice a fun blue beatle episode, but oooh Next episode is my favorite episode of the whole series.... and it need to be hyped..... and wooo for angel and meeting Annne, oh wait... im sure so many people are letting the normies knw that Anne from the shelter is the same person from buffy - she took buffys name Anne when she was a waitress. also the same lady who joined that wannabe vampire club. wooo fun thursday and next week is going to be fun: plus Buffy birthday episode. woooo Wink*

Ricardo Obregon

The cash came out the attendees pockets, how can it be flagged?

Solebat

Yeah, after. Took them a bit to figure it out/remember.

Cory Garron

Its up on youtube ep 17 they normally post it with early access

All Mighty Lowercase Jay

Its a really good speach but outside of acting like Aholes what did the watchers really do other than Vet people they don't know before handing over Classified info? Its like one of these things that always gets forgotten because we follow Buffy and the gang.

All Mighty Lowercase Jay

#SundayRundow #Buffy - I think this ep is misunderstood a lot by people. Yes, the Watchers Council are A-Holes but there actions make sense in context to the story so far. Remember Giles was fired and replaced by Wesley and Buffy not only quit but also isn't the Offical Slayer. The Slayer line in lore has 1 Slayer at a time with a new Slayer being "born" upon the death of their predecessor. Buffy died at the end of season 1 (She was revived by Xander not soon after) offically ending her term as Slayer and moving it on to Kendra who upon her death past the line down to Faith (Faith is the Offical Slayer) meaning a new Slayer can not be born without Faith dying. With Faith currently in Jail the Watcher have no Slayer as Buffy quit and isn't the offical Slayer to being with. The Watchers only showed up because Giles reached out for Info on Glory and the Key which is Classified info and the Scoobies couldn't obtain it any other way. So in context what did they really do other than Vet people they were planning to get into business with? They're being expected to hand over classified info to people they really know nothing about and if something was to happen to Buffy that again leaves them without a Slayer as Faith is the Offical Slayer. Yes, they are A-holes but that doesn't make them wrong.

All Mighty Lowercase Jay

After they watched the episode im guessing? Did they have anything to say?

Bisibia

As for episode 5x11 Triangle, everyone seems to have forgotten about what happened in the early seasons as well. The entire reason Willow and the gang MEET Anya is because Anya was a vengeance demon that did a spell for Cordelia to get rid of the slayer. Sure, they don't have the memories of what happened in the bad alternate dimension, but they do have the memory of vampire Willow getting sent to them and trying to kill everyone. The first time Anya meets Willow, she lies to her about needing to do a spell to get her necklace back. Willow has NEVER liked Anya and would make snarky comments about her all the time. There is also the residual thing about being territorial over Xander because she was in love with him for so many years. She spoke of Cordelia and Faith the same way, even when she had a significant other. Examples: - Willow calls Cordy a 'skanky ho' after she starts dating Xander - Willow describes Faith as a 'clevagey slut-bomb' to Tara - When Buffy confides in Willow about seeing Faith with Angel, and says, "Faith would never do that (cheat with Angel), Willow says, "Are you kidding? Faith is BUILT to do that, she's the DO THAT girl." In reality, Willow is the one that was cheating on her boyfriend. At that point, they didn't know about Faith working with the mayor. So it was just pure slut-shaming.

While we don't really get to see the reach's part of the galaxy, I suspect the show is pulling some specific versions of the reach in the comics, which would explain why their people's names are their jobs. The reach are a galactic powerhouse up there with the likes of the Green Lanterns, New Gods, and Darkseid. They do this not through overwhelming powerhouses, but through administrative efficiency. Imagine entire planets being used for a single purpose. Everything, from the moment you're born to the moment you die, is for that singular purpose. Other races are simply meat to feet the body that is their empire. Even its own citizens are nothing but drones for the empire, not even deserving of names. The Green Lanterns had to sign a peace treats with the reach because the reach were likely throwing trillions of soldiers, indoctrinated since birth, at them. And while the Lanterns could easily kill them, the sheer numbers being thrown at them had to have been exhausting, if not terrifying.

#SundayRundown - Most people don't notice on first watch, but I love Scarabs malicious compliance with the Reach When ordered to kill Batgirl and Impulse, it slowly approaches with blades instead of using its favorite plasma cannon, something it has begged to use all season Scarab admits it knew how to counter Rockets stuff, but chose not to until directly ordered. And when asked how to counter Zatanna's magic, Scarab just says there are no known ways, but never says it couldn't think of any Just a really cool detail you notice on repeated watches

she didn't have spike join dawn and joyce at the house because glory was just there lol. glory likely doesn't know about spike's crypt, so they're safer there.

#sundayrundown We love Chris and I would love for him to return to the angel reaction team there's great moments which will need black Commentary. We'll need at least two black reactors. If you know what I mean.

The Answer

Buffy: hate when yall try to predict the dialogue but the Pat impression was too good 😂 still 4 episodes ahead? OOOF

Chris K.

No jjk?😢

Chris

#SundayRundown - In YJ S2 episode five you see the mission where Batgirl discovers the scarab hieroglyphs, so on rewatches its a cool thing to catch. That's the one with the all-girl mission where they also discover pods of kids that the Reach is kidnapping. Also yes, in the Reach it is normal to address someone based on their role rather than their name. That's why the two we spend the most time with always call each other "Ambassador" or "Scientist". It's a cultural thing.

cosmotron

I told them in the chat during the livestream, they just didn't include it in this video.

Cory Garron

Finally the last problem got solved in this episode! Seems the team was fully aware of the Blue Beetle possibly getting taken over by the reach and had a plan all the time. Jaime was still in there too and now he's finally free for real this time! Tough luck for Lagoon Boy though cause Miss Martian finally broke it off with him but Nightwing said Superboy was going out with Wendy Harris but is that really true? Last it seems the light wanted the heroes to free the beetles so their plans for them and The Reach can proceed on schedule. That doesn't sound good.

Brandon Gibbs

It’s come to be known as “Buffy’s power speech”, and it’s iconic.

#SundayRundown - The Light making the Reach look like goofs is some of the funniest shit in the second half of this season. They used them for as long as they needed them and threw them away like Andy threw away his toys in Toy Story lol. Zatanna is such an ace in the hole for the Team & the League. Speaking of which.. so many new characters stepped up this season but some of my MVPs of the new cast are: Arsenal, Tim Drake/Robin, Batgirl, Beast Boy, Blue Beetle. Who would you guys say?

Zee

#SundayRundown The woman running the teen shelter in this episode of Angel is the girl Buffy helped in Buffy 3x01 "Anne", where Buffy was living in L.A. and ended up in a communist sewer hell dimension. The girl called herself Lily back then and took the name Anne from Buffy at the end of that episode. We also saw her previously as part of the vampire cult in Buffy 2x07 "Lie to Me", so that's why vampires being a thing wasn't a surprise to her here. ;)

Swedish Malin

Into every generation, ONE slayer is born. From the season one intro- "In every generation there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer." In the lore, when one slayer dies, another one rises. The only reason there is an exception to this rule in Buffy's story is because in the Season 1 finale, Buffy died for a split second (getting drowned by the Master.) That split second that Buffy died meant that the universe made Kendra the new slayer, giving her slayer strength/powers. Then when Kendra died, Faith became the new slayer. Two slayers existing side by side has NEVER happened up until this point. The only reason it does is because Buffy was brought back to life by Xander giving her CPR in the Season 1 finale. (I know this is being explained to you over and over by the other comments, but I wanted to lay it out clearly. The reason people are explaining it is because it is really important to the story down the line.) #SundayRundown

So Dan Garrett was the first Blue Beetle, then there was Ted Kord the 2nd, but as they explained he had no powers and was more like Batman, he relied on advanced tech and gadgets and martial arts, and then Jaime Reyes the 3rd and current BB. Ted Kord was also who Nite Owl from The Watchmen was based on (all the Watchmen heroes were based on Charlton/DC characters..for example The Comedian is based on Peacemaker)

flexluthor

the watcher council is ancient and so so imbeded, they can shut giles down they can shut everything down, old old old money, look at it that way, except its old old old magic

Macs

One thing I realized about quite a few eps but this one really brought it home, I know buffy/angel so well syncing up the ep for the uncut to watch along isn't really necessary, huh, the blurry screen is fine because I know exactly whats happening anyway and it doesn't distract from the normies reactions

Macs

Buffy saying fuck the Patriarchy is always great

space colon

no they should watch being human uk

Macs

Such a solid Buffy episode, it truly kicks off the remainder of this season, which has some really great episodes.

ray s

I love this episode of buffy, and I love this angel arc, this is so good

Macs

#SundayRundown - Zatanna is probably one of the more clutch characters in YJ. I like that the writers had a sound reason for her being in the background and coming around to cleanse Blue & Green Beetle. It made so much sense. The Reach doesn’t know it but they’ve become one of the many pawns for The Light and it’s hilarious to see their once stable operation just fall to shit so fast.

Kuro

I think Thursdays are the best days for me since I watch everything lol

Daniel R

Is no one going to tell them who Anne is?! I used to live for these details as a kid, scouring IMDb to confirm my suspicions

Shannzy7

#SundayRundown Buffy 5x11 Checkpoint. “Where are the other slayers?, What are they doing?” Since the beginning there is only one activated slayer at a time, Faith and Buffy are the exception. There are other “potential” slayers around the world being found and trained by other Watchers in the organization but there is no guarantee that they will be activated. It’s easy to forget how vast the Watchers Council is supposed to be because we don’t focus on them but they have worldwide power and influence and are capable more than we realize but without an active slayer they’re lost.

CWall

He also created one of the greatest comic characters of the 2000s, Adam Brashear aka Blue Marvel

Pervy Sage

Starting with "Checkpoint," it's a solid streak of great eps straight through the finale.

John Moreland

Lie again

Zee

These early drops 🔥

Zee

when you finish buffy you should watch The strain

christopher aquino

Man Thursdays are the worst day of the week

Pavi

"Checkpoint" is my personal favourite! Buffy is such a badass and the silly/funny parts of the episode were so well balanced with the serious! A 10/10! I know yous guys think "Triangle" was a dud... but for the rest of the season, at least, in my opinion, all of the episodes are great!

hannemanart

Kevin Grevioux who voices the Black Beetle, also starred in Underworld. Fun fact: he, Danny McBride, and Len Wiseman (the director), are the writers of that film. Danny and Kevin are on opposite sides of the conflict in the movie. Danny plays a vampire who gets killed investigating the train transporting one of the elder vamps, and Kevin plays the second in command to werewolf leader Lucian.

Teyon Alexander

yes 2 more episodes till season 3. and it's good.
