What if the Medieval Times were an open world?

Hi guys, as I had already commented in another post, I was thinking of turning the Medieval Times into an open world, it is only an idea in the air at the moment, I am corroborating that all the options that we have available in the novel today, can are available in this "Open World". I'm still learning how to use the program and its functions (RPG Maker MV), and watching tutorials all the time hahaha πŸ˜†, now that I published Chapter 9, I have a little more free time and wanted to look a little more closely at the program, before to get fully into the next chapter of the novel. What I can tell you in advance is that if you can pass the Novel to this style of play (Of course, first, it depends on what you want to do) is the immense range of options that this allows, from a character lost in the middle of the forest 😈, battles With enemies to complete missions, have adventure companions (and something else πŸ’“hahaha), as far as I could see, the possibilities are almost endless. Anyway in the coming days I will create some scenarios and some playable scenes and upload a video to see how it can be and of course I will publish a survey to know what you think of this change. From now guys I hope to read your comments about it, I am very anxious to read, without further news for now, I leave you a hug.

What if the Medieval Times were an open world? What if the Medieval Times were an open world? What if the Medieval Times were an open world?

I prefer the visual novel approach in this game. I don’t like rpg maker games much because 95% of the time you are seeing tiny characters with no detail.

I don't feel that Medieval Times can become an open world game. Rather, that would be a different game separate from Medieval Times (maybe in the same universe). More-or-less-linear story and open world are simply not compatible, as open world is meant to be total freedom for the player or almost. Personally I would prefer to dedicate the effort in expanding the current story and make it richer in more meaningful choices for the player, rather than starting a completely different challenge with the risk of not finishing either, or finish them not optimally. Also, I'm not really fond of RPGMaker, but that's a detail.

I personally don't mind RPGmaker but a LOT of people seem to hate it compared to Renpy. I'm fine with both. An open world would be interesting!

Hi Ryan, one of the important things I was seeing is the topic of new content, but with RPG Maker, it can be done easily, the idea is to keep one update a month, as until now, and new content could be added directly on what has already been created or create a new map or area to be unlocked every month, the truth that the program allows you to do everything, is very complete.

Hi Pilgrim, yes converting it to a Skyrim type game escapes for now my skills hahaha

Luriel

Hi Artem, yes I am working on it, there is also the option to create everything in Pixel mode, but it is the idea that I like least.

Luriel

Hi DidItAgain, yes, the scene of dialogue and sex, would be exactly the same as the novel, that would remain the same.

It is a very interesting idea to be sure Luriel, and does open up a wide range of possibilities as you say. Many of those could be very good and exciting and give you the chance to be even more creative. One major drawback is that it does have quite the learning curve I expect, so it might be difficult to update as quickly as you're used to, which may or may not also affect how interested new players or veteran players would be going forward...until of course you become proficient at the new software. Personally, I'm fine with longer stretches of time in-between updates, if it yields an even more creative project; particularly if there are a lot more options to...acquaint oneself...with new characters/monsters/enemies. But I can only speak for me, and I am sure there is at least one person whose vote would cancel mine out because they like the shorter wait between updates. I suppose I'll be fine with whatever decision you choose since...well...Bennet is really hot...and you've done a pretty good job including content I prefer anyway, also your introduction of deciding how animations play out was exactly what I wanted. So...again...I'm good either way as long as the quality remains as high as its been.

Hola, Luriel, if the game would be totally a 3D high quality, with main story quest and plenty side optiouns, it would be very nice, but it is a much more difficult task. Un abrazo :-)

Pilgrim

I prefer the straight forward approach of the visual novel. Switching to open world game style would likely kill a lot of my enthusiasm for the game

Sameer

That should be a totally different game and I would love to see it. Especially if you're going to replace all standard assets in RPG Maker. The view projection (perspective or its lack of) looks very weird in the screenshots though.

Artem

for me it would depend how accessible the sex scenes are! I've had a few rpgs i've tried where it's hours of play for little payoff, but i think thats a really easy thing to avoid

OopsI...DidItAgain

I like the idea. The visual novel is nice, but a little too straightforward and limited. More options upgrade the game
