I don't think this counts as spoilers, since I don't discuss anything you haven't seen in The End of Evangelion, or 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone. But light spoilers for anyone who hasn't watched them yet I guess.. So the theory is, that this is both a reboot, and a kind of sequel. In the final scene of The End of Evangelion, there is a bloodstained sea, and the opening shot of 1.11 is extremely similar. The chalk outline is from an an event that happened in the first telling of the story. It already exist, before the fight where it was originally created, takes place. There is a blood stain on the moon, from all the blood that ended up in space during End of Eva.

When Amazon re-dubbed them along with Thrice Upon a Time, they brought Winn Lee back as the voice of Rei. Tiffany Grant, Spike Spencer as well as Allison Keith were there for both the Funimation and Amazon dubs.

This dub feels hella rushed and completely half assed, the voices feel like a one-take as well as how they decided to do a literal translation of the script for each scenes. I have not watched this newer dubbing past this 1.11 but from what i've heard from others is that the later movies, there are some egregious editing mistakes in the dubbing like mistimed dialogue to the scene or having voices when the character voices are closed. I hope the Amazon dub doesnt sour your experience of the rebuilds.

I watched the whole movie with them before I said anything to see if it would get better but it’s absolutely terrible. The reason why the Normies didn't watch the original dub is because you can't find any copies of the ADV dub anywhere without pirating them or paying hundreds of dollars online. The reason why they switched to the new dub is because Netflix hasnt dubbed any of the Evangelion movies besides End of Eva. That's literally all there is to it. There's no reason for them to switch to the sub besides the fact that you personally don't like the version they're currently watching, which is an incredibly stupid reason.

You want them to arbitrarily keep it the “same” but they already did switch. It’s not even the same dub as what they were watching. It’s completely different So switching from the old to something new is obviously not a problem. If you’re switching to a completely new voice cast might as well switch to a good voice cast(sub) and not to an absolutely horrendous one(this dub).

I had to sit through 26 episodes of the mediocre Netflix dub so I can't see why you guys can't sit through 4 movies. Which being dubbed by a way better cast imo.

Most fans of the original dub heard that one first. There are a lot of lines in the Netflix dub that, while it may be a more technically correct translation, sound weird and unnatural when spoken in English. How about you just chill and accept that people will have different preferences?

Did you even watch this video? 45yr old Toji sounding voice??Did you hear Misato and Shinji? It’s completely different from the series. Chris even commented that he liked the other dub better. If they had kept the same voice cast as the Netflix version I’d obviously agree with you but this is nowhere near as good. Rebuild is a great place to switch to sub.
