Hey Normies!!

We are in the process of reviewing our Avatar Read Along numbers and are curious about your thoughts. We would like to keep providing this additional manga/DC/Marvel/Star Wars comic content for you all and because we enjoy doing them. We noticed that our Avatar numbers are not as high as we'd like which puts us in a position to reevaluate this specific series/medium. So we are asking you:

How are you liking our Avatar Read-Along Streams? If you answered option two, we would love if you could comment your manga/DC/Marvel/Star Wars comic suggestions down below.

You have until Friday at 9 am to cast your vote! Let us know!!!

Comments

Im really only interested in manga reads of series that we haven't watched or had bad adaptations, unless the manga provides a different experience. Suggestions: Berserk, Kingdom, Vagabond, Chainsaw Man, Fire Punch, and Junji Ito's stories Some less popular suggestions: Undead Unluck, Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji, Sakamoto Days, Goodnight Pun Pun, Toriko, Hunter X Hunter (pass anime ending)

Slicewinds

once you finish the tv series you can go on to season 8 of buffy (name of the comic) and season 6 of angel (name of the comic) to continue to milk that whedon content for decades. he even has an xmen title (astonishing xmen) to tie into that market. personally its his best comic work. SO GOOD! EMMA FROST, KITTY PRYDE, NEGASONIC, BLINDFOLD, UHM UHM GOOD! until then i suggest astonishing xmen, young justice (2013) issues 20-25 (prequel to season 2), vampirella: mindwarp, generation x: epic collection: back to school, fables vol 1: legends in exile, and zenecope's Gretel Graphic Novel (tpb of issues 1-5). of my suggestions fables and astonishing xmen are the ones most likely to really tickle your fancy and blow your minds away with the writing, characters and plot twists.

Ayo I keep seeing lots of Berserk mentions on here... my peoples of culture know whats up! ❤️❤️❤️ Berserk would be hella dope, or Walking Dead comics read which would take 8 or less streams so yall can see how better paced and told the story is instead of what the show writer hacks did foul and dirty, and ends much better and satisfying conclusion. 👌

StlawHatRuffy

hell yeah it does!

StlawHatRuffy

damn...wanted to see them going

Vin Sama

the last Ronin is a very good read. THQ making a video game based on the comic. it the best tmnt story i even seen. other suggestions would be the amazing spider man: red goblin, scott pilgrim, batman three jokers

macattack

Berserk is a must. I’d also recommend Vagabond.

Dooly

I love you Avatar read-alongs, but I haven't been able to keep up with them latley. Hopefully I can catch up soon If you are looking for something new, Scott Pilgrim would be great I think! Just in time for the new animated series. I love the books, read them two times already

Katharina

Watchmen would be a great read for them.

Chaos T

Going by Ultimates, Immortal Hulk, and X-Men Red, I think it's safe to say that Al Ewing is one of the best writers working at Marvel right now.

Patrick

Saga is brilliant in every way and CSM’s use of paneling paired with its absurdist storytelling and surprisingly deep themes make is a must-read as well! Unfortunately, it’s likely they’ll just wait for the eventual season 2 and onward of the anime adaptation, which makes sense.

Champion Bescos

I third “Saga”. It’s truly one of the greatest comic runs of the century.

Champion Bescos

Immortal Hulk is genuinely incredible.

Champion Bescos

Berserk. Push through the first volume if you're particularly sensitive or feel it's trope-heavy, and by Volume 2 you'll be on-board and grow gradually more hooked until you're in love with the beautiful nightmare that it is. And to add, I would avoid over-saturation of any ONE property. You guys already react to all things MCU and Star Wars Disney, that I feel comics in those same worlds (often with some of the same characters) would just be overkill. There are so many fascinating and high quality stories outside of those franchises, it would be limiting to stick with the big names and publishers purely out or a marketing projective. Less expanded and interconnected universe, more self-contained material. Western comic books? Vaughn’s Saga or his Y: The Last Man, Alan Moore’s Watchmen, Scott Snyder’s American Vampire, just off the top of my head. Manga? Berserk, Monster, Chainsaw Man, 21st Century Boys, Firepunch, to name just a few. I would even be down to read along with you guys on actual books or even, as a compromise, web stories and light novels. So long as they are interesting and captivating to you.

Champion Bescos

Not interested in read alongs at all.

NF

the story isn't animated though... also the manga says Zolo

I Love the read along of One Piece because i think the manga is the better experience of the show. I dont think this happens for Avatar, thats why the numbers are low. So I would like this kind of reaction (read along) to stuff that dont have an animated version OR when the animated version is the worst of them (like in OP) There are a LOT of mangas that are FAR BETTER than the anime adaptation.

Gabriel Moreira

star wars comics would be cool :)

Jesse Gerrits

Identity Crisis is my favorite comic book. It's gets dark. But it's amazing

Jesus Perez

Kingdom is goated

xMaestro21

Berserk/Kingdom are both great though both full of gore. Kingdom is a manga that is based on the unification of China, of course exaggerated and altered. I don't think everyone would want to read such gory stuff but it's worth a try and I highly recommend it to anyone!

MPM

I’d recommend ultimate Spider-Man. My favorite comic run ever. A popular run set in an alternate universe that eventually leads to Miles’s debut. I prefer the original run over Miles’s but it’s a great journey no matter where you stop.

Paul Lopez

I would like chainsaw man or berserk please

Key

I’d like to see new stuff without replacing Avatar.

Michael Diaz

Kinda new did u guys ever read walking dead comics on video

Lord Golden

Read the Scott Pilgrim comic books! It's only six books, and they're great, very different from the movie (which is good in its own way, it just tells a different story). Also, a new Scott Pilgrim animated series is coming out, but the author himself has confirmed that it will be different from both the movie and the books, so you reading them won't spoil the animated series.

npc_1406

maybe try avatar readalong again but make the thumbnail a surprised youtuber face

B Mowglli

neither just watch young justice more

Christian Culver

I would definitely follow along if you did teen titans comics

Michaela Evans

Just throwing some DC comics out there. “Dceased” is a really good story where there’s a zombie virus taking over the universe. Also “Dark knights: Metal” or “The batman who laughs” story are both really well done! Might as well throw a little marvel in there, “Deadpool kills the marvel universe”….very entertaining and a good read!

SpaceBabyTed

Alot of great suggestions here but I'd have to suggest The last Ronin such a great story all around

Edward

I’m enjoying the One Piece read-alongs, but sadly not that interested in older Avatar content anymore. I’m more excited for new Avatar stuff coming out in the future. Like the One Piece story is still ongoing and popular, while the Avatar fandom has gotten as much as they can until the new stuff drops. Also, I watch the OP streams after they’re posted on your website. Just don’t always have time to watch live. I’m sure that’s the case for many others. I’d enjoy some Miles Morales comics. Spider-Verse has gotten so popular. It’s an extension of something people love now. People are also suggesting Berserk, which I know is visually stunning. There’s also thousands of foreign comics to enjoy. I’m partial to the horror and thriller genres.

Kero20042

I actually enjoyed the Avatar streams but if tour looking for new content Chainsaw Man would be dope! Unlike a lot of the other new gen shounen Chainsaw Man actually turns the shounen formula on its head.

Captain K'nuckles

I would love to see a "Berserk" read along. It's a great story with legendary characters. "Berserk" also has some of the best artwork I've seen in a manga or comic book. Panel after panel is a masterwork of art from Kentaro Miura.

Chaos T

Honestly Chainsaw Man is a great read. Very creative use of panels. Gwenpoole is one of the funniest Marvel comics that can be read a standalone. Chew is one of the wildest creative comics out there. Saga is the best graphic novel ever made.

HouseDogget

I have to admit, I just don't enjoy comic reactions. I love One piece and the one piece manga, and from what I have seen Marketa and Navi do a good job, but even then it's just not for me. (So I didn't vote)

Steffen Bauknecht

Saga is fantastic. Good choice. I am also in the middle of reading The Wicked + The Divine. I think they would love it.

Brandon Corchado

I’d also add Dark Empire for those who didn’t like “Somehow palpatine returned”

DarthCaedus

Seldom catch the stream itself, but the YouTube video is always a must

DarthCaedus

READ THE LAST RONIN!!!....after Avatar

Watchdog

I just don't watch the read alongside avatar or not myself

PKKite

A good Star Wars comic: Darth Maul Son of Dathomir. Great for clone wars fans

S Kurup

Yes! Keep the read along because it's a comic,I want y'all to read. I love marvel.

The Answer

I'm not a fan of avatar, but I would love it if at some point they read the manga "Re-Take" of Evangelion.😁

Pedro Hernández

i love one piece read along but its not cause its manga its cause its one piece

christopher aquino

I also see that you guys love learning about the New Gods from Young Justice. I would highly recommend reading Mister Miracle by Tom King and Mitch Gerads. One of the best comics from DC from the past decades. I works really well as it's own standalone series and you don't need to know much about the characters to get invested. Most of Tom King's comics are like that. It tells an emotionally powerful story about depression, life, family, and reality. Fantastic comic.

Brandon Corchado

Berserk😏

Gabriel Reynisson

Though, I would still like you to finish the Avatar Read-Along series (especially "The Legend of Korra: Ruins of the Empire", which features the series' final antagonist, Kuvira, and how she and the heroes deal with her actions), I am probably more interested in you reading some of the DC, Marvel, and especially Star Wars comics (particularly the multiple Darth Vader comic series). Finish the ATLA/LOK-verse if you wish, but even greater interest lies in the other franchises' comics.

The Greater-Scope Villain

I'd watch the atla readalongs, but I just haven't read them yet. I'd be down for Saga, Chew, The Wicked and The Divine, Paper Girls, Locke and Key, or Berserk

Michael Jefferson

If you want a darker, more horror-themed comic to get into, I cannot recommend Al Ewing's Immortal Hulk run highly enough. Easily one of the best comic runs in the last decade. Other good comics are Saladin Ahmed's Black Bolt, and maybe the recent New Mutants run by Vita Ayala, though that one may be harder to get into if you're not familiar with some of the other stuff from the current era (Krakoa) of X-books.

Patrick

Honestly, the only reason i haven't tuned into the Avatar ones is because i feel like they're probably gonna adapt them into series with the new studio, so i'd rather wait for that. Might never happen of course, but eh. Plus despite not having ever read them myself, i already know the basic outlines of the stories and the big things that happen in them too. Regarding manga recs, it's hard because most manga these days get pretty good anime adaptations, so you may as well watch them. So for a manga to be recommended, it'd have to be something that had a crap anime imo (unless it's One Piece, where the anime is good but i think the manga is still better, but Navi and Marketa are already reading through it of course). Something like Tokyo Ghoul or Berserk would be popular examples (even Bleach might fall under this as well lol, the author didn't like the og anime at all, which is one of the reasons why he's directly involved in the newer anime lol). I guess you could also read manga of stuff you've finished already to see some differences? But that sounds like a "your own time" thing more than a reaction thing. Re comics, i have no idea since the only proper comics i've read are Invincible and TWD (and a lot of Spider-Man stories, but that's a whole other thing and this comment is already long enough lol). No point reading Invincible and spoiling yourself on the show and the show is a VERY good adaptation anyway, even though some things are changed/switched. So i guess i rec TWD.

Shockzz1234

For Star Wars comics, a great place to start would be Darth Vader- Dark Lord of the Sith by Charles Soule. It takes place right after a Revenge of the Sith and follows Vader's rise to power within the Empire.

Brandon Corchado

I would like to see a read along of the Young Justice comics to go along with the show, I've noticed everyone is curious about what happened in the 5 years time skip between the two seasons and the comics explain all the details. That's my suggestion

Lazuli Musics

I would love to see y'all read The Walking Dead comic.

edgard

There are some great old EU Darkhorse Star Wars graphic novels. Crimson Empire… Knights of the Old Republic… Legacy.

GenAntilles

I love the content either way lol 😆 I’ll be watching the comic read alongs lol

Khayta

I think you guys should have ATLA and TLOK discussions those would be dope 😆 similar to like the sub/dub discussions but maybe about certain things in the series

Khayta
