His response is nowhere near warranted. it was just some cold water, and it wasn't even that much weed. besides Johnny started it

Suraj around 22:08 in the edited react: "That whole scene was one shot"
A lot of older films were great at letting character interactions play out in the scene and feel it's something many film productions lack today. If the same scene were filmed today, there would probably be a lot of cuts and in doing so would undermine the weight of the character interactions within the scene.

I love that Navi is already trying to plan out Karate Kid skits.
Also, Daniel is kind of a little shit in this film. Johnny's response to him f'ing up his joint rolling process is warranted.

"Your comment is non sequitur."
Huh?? Learn what a "non sequitur" statement actually means.

Yep. I'm looking forward to part two of the reaction since the most dramatic part of Miyagi's story deals with something that was actually very personal to Pat's upbringing, as a Japanese-American kid growing up at a time when it was... not great to be Japanese-American in the US. (I'm being vague because while the movie is nearly 40 years old and I'm sure most people here have seen it, I'm gonna dance around "spoilers" anyway.)
He's just so, so good in this role. A far cry from anything he'd done before this. And as the gang said in the reaction, he basically is like Yoda in these movies.

Why exactly is this being reacted to in parts and not just the whole movie? Did I miss an post about it?

#Sundayrundown Fun fact: the "Varney the Vampire" series was one of the first vampire "penny dreadfuls" that popularized the monsters. It was published ~50 years before Bram Stoker wrote Dracula, and is considered one of the major influences behind the iconic novel. (When the series concluded and was collected in book form, it was 667,000 words long -- longer than War and Peace. The author was paid by the line.)

What the hell are you on about? How is calling it the "Miyagiverse" at all a spoiler? Are we trying to pretend people don't go into these knowing Miyagi is in the original trilogy? That's not a spoiler, dude. And Daniel never said who is actually in the show. And no, me saying Miyagi was in the original trilogy and not mentioning the show is not a spoiler, since Pat Morita died in 2005 so OBVIOUSLY he isn't in the show.

#Sundayrundown Before this movie, Pat Morita was most famous for playing Arnold on Happy Days. In fact, the producer of Karate Kid didnt want him originally because he was seen as a comedic actor. He also spoke perfect english, as he was born and raised in California. Pat would go on and gain an Academy award nomination for his role as Mr Miyagi. Legend.

It's 100% true and accurate. "You're the Best" was written by some guy named Bill Conti. You may remember him as the composer for the Rocky films. It was originally written for Rocky 3, they turned it down, and then they talked about using it for Flashdance, which also turned it down. But John Avildsen had already heard it and loved it, so when he got Karate Kid, he used it there. That is absolutely, 100% fact.

Jeff's point still stands. "You're the best" was specifically made for the intent of being used in Rocky, Stallone may have passed on it in favor of "Eye of the Tiger" but had Stallone not the song was going to be used

That is not true at all. "You are the best" was never going to be used in Rocky. It is the song that they wrote for Sylvester but he chose eye of the tiger. Stallone chose the song not the director. Your comment is non sequitur.

How many times are you gonna leave spoilers in the comments? When you tell them who is in the show before they have seen it then they are being spoiled.

Same director who did Karate Kid was also the director of the original Rocky, FYI. (I watched the full video and intro but don't recall that coming up.) Which is what makes it funny that "You're the Best" was going to be used in Rocky 3 initially, but they went with "Eye of the Tiger" instead and Karate Kid basically got that film's sloppy seconds.
