2023-08-14 16:17:14 +0000 UTCGung fu (or "Kung" fu) is not completely comprised of animal styles of course, but there are 7 main animal styles in gung fu and many more in Wushu (frog, dragon, monkey, bear, etc.) Wushu is the performative art of gung fu some of them practical, others not so much. The main animal styles are tiger, eagle, mantis, crane, snake, leopard, and dragon (dragon is higher level, so not many learn it). Then there's a bunch of combinations and variations of those styles as well. My personal favorite is tiger crane. I wish my teacher fed me bao buns while we trained like Po and Master Shifu

2023-08-13 07:25:01 +0000 UTCSo one of my favorite bits in Kung Fu Panda is the difference in Po and Tai Lung seeing the Dragon Scroll. Po says that it is 'blank', which means it is something that can be filled meshing well with his philosophy of wanting to be better and always learning. Tai Lung on the other hand says it is 'nothing' because he has completely based his identity on being the Dragon Warrior. Without that external form of validation he feels like he is 'nothing'.
