This was my first time listening to Gideon and ngl I'm impressed. Super bouncy grooves and a nice amount of diversity. I will say that I got fatigued towards the end since the songs are all very rhythm focused and that made them start to blend together, but each individual song was executed well. Having them all in a row definitely made it tough since it felt like listening to one 40 minute song.

Went into this one without hearing any of the singles and I'm thoroughly impressed. This is a dense album for only having 9 songs, as it contains a range of sounds and influences. I love love love when each song on an album offers something different from the rest, and this one did that. A fantastic release!

Another solid album from Viscera. Pretty heavy with strong choruses and some blackened twists. However, each song struggles to distinguish itself from the rest, making a whole album listen fatiguing.

WOW I really slept on this band. I've known about them for a while but never bothered to check them out since I'm not really a metalcore guy. Lemme tell ya, I regret not listening sooner. A super versatile album that delivers some crushingly heavy sections, like in Reaper or Eyes Roll Back (my favorite track). Great stuff!

This isn't a genre I normally explore, but I was super surprised by the raw emotion you can feel behind each song. Extremely moving, and especially deep lyrics. It takes a lot to share the type of grief that Rory felt about the passing of his father with others. Favorite track is either Dreamstate or Afterglow (Hazel's Song)

The amount of sheer creativity in this was absolutely inspiring. Love this album, and I'm excited for the second half in March! It's insane to think that both Tom Barber and Baby J will have 2 albums each in the top 10 albums of 2022 list. Favorite track is Flood Lungs!

Honestly this is a very mixed album. I enjoy the concept of the genre blend they used here, but the execution really varies from song to song. Overall I'd give this a 6/10, and label it as the worst slipknot album. This doesn't mean that it's bad or all songs are a 6, but rather that there's a great deal of variability from song to song. Favorite track is Hive Mind!

This album was strange for me because it used an older sound that I haven't been into for a while, but done in such a perfect way that it had an extremely nostalgic feeling to it. Super emotive and well executed! Favorite track is Soul Bleach!
