sketchdump ☀️ feeling warm and getting messy

recently, I've been working on a handful of long term collaborative projects that have required sustained focus and specificity. now that one has wrapped and another is nearing the final stages, I've had more time to sketch freely without needing to follow any rules. I like to use periods like these to explore lesser-used mediums and experiment with style and technique. it's a way for me to loosen up and try new things without feeling pressured about a particular outcome. this time around I mainly tried out mechanical pencil, microns, marker, and digital gouache brushes. another reason I like using unfamiliar mediums is the way it pushes me to come up with creative solutions to limitations. I find ways to work with the quirks of the medium rather than forcefully bending it to my will. allowing room for happy accidents keeps the experience of sketching unexpected, playful, and fun. ^.^
