thought I'd try something different with this month's speedpaint vid and include some music that I think pairs well with the artwork. I love listening to music while I draw and paint, it has a huge influence on what and how I feel while making art. I'll often take time to find the right track before I start drawing to properly set the mood. I, love, music!!! 🫶🫰👍🩷💕💞💓
watching the video back, it's interesting to see how much I changed the facial expression throughout working on the postcard. what started out as direct and taunting transitioned into something more reflective and melancholic. I can also tell that making the choice to add dramatic lighting brought out a new dimension of the piece. it felt risky at the time, but I'm glad I stuck to the vision. I had a lot of fun letting loose with painting after having worked on April's lineart-centric pieces. I think both of these pieces taught me something about style preferences and what I'd like to make moving forward. always an exciting discovery to realize that there's still so much to learn in the process of making art. <3
have a lovely weekend!

music and art really are a match made in heaven! \^_^/ i do use separate layers, but for a majority of the process i work on 1-2 layers. it's explained better in this tutorial i made back in january xD https://www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial-how-i-96701981

2024-05-09 18:49:57 +0000 UTCwow, the music really sets the mood for this piece...! also, i'm curious vicki--do you work off of one layer and just continuously clean up as you work out the picture? as opposed to what a lot of artists do (sketch, clean lineart on top)

2024-05-03 22:51:26 +0000 UTCthis is how i find out trent reznor did the soundtrack for challengers?! i love seeing the process on this one, especially the change from starkness to the...glamour? opulence? watching this has made me appreciate the postcard so much more. i really liked the direct eyes at the start but the mood of the completed piece is just so damn good. you've done it again!!!
