hello friends!
how are you? happy almost halloween! ๐๐ป are you doing anything to celebrate? i'm thinking of putting on some spooky makeup and handing out candy to any trick o treaters that stop by! halloween was so much fun as a kid, I want to pass along those feelings to kids growing up now. :-)
as you may have noticed I've uploaded the images differently this time. i'm trying out a the new image posting feature, let me know if you prefer it this way or how i've done it in the past! ^^
i've been thinking of sketching from a new perspective recently. I was listening to Andy J Pizza's podcast Creative Peptalk and he mentioned something really interesting about sketching and approaching it as playtime rather than a time to be productive. i've had a nagging intuition about this in the past, how having fun/subtracting pressure from the process usually results in more creative and uninhibited sketching. but over time I got so used to associating drawing with work and that usually stood in the way of me letting go and drawing what really called to me. seeing it as playtime instead has really unlocked that childlike fascination with art that took me down the artist's path to begin with. it's been exciting, refreshing, and a bit emotional :,-)
about the change, I'm going back to monthly instead of weekly sketchdumps. I changed to weekly a couple years ago because I wanted to push myself to draw regularly and frequently as a way to force improvement and style development. I've reached a point now where I'm more concerned with creativity and fleshing out ideas and the pressure of weekly sketchdumps no longer matches with those artistic intentions. classic quality over quantity reasoning.
there's a lot more I want to say about change in general, but I think I'll spare you my rambling. and just. put it into art-form instead haha. sending you so much love and thank you so much for your support. take care xo
