🔔 One Month Until B.E.S.T's Full Release… Or Not?

Hey B.E.S.T.I.E.S !

Here we are: 30 days to go before the official release of B.E.S.T on August 29, 2025. That’s huge for us — more than two years of development, passion, struggles, and incredible moments with all of you.

But today, we want to take a moment to talk to you openly and honestly.

📊 Development Status

Episode 5 is nearly done. We're wrapping up the final scene, translations are in progress, and we're polishing the last technical adjustments.

We’re also working hard on:

• The next episode,

• Steam Deck performance,

• Save file stability for returning players.

⚠️ The Challenges We’re Facing

Lately, our biggest challenge hasn’t been technical… but political.

A wave of censorship has started affecting many narrative games — especially those with adult content, even when it’s mild or story-driven.

We’ve received multiple warning signs: reduced visibility, geo-blocking in certain countries, even sudden bans — often with no clear explanation from the platforms.

And yet, B.E.S.T is far from being a porn game. It’s a story. A universe. Complex characters. A mix of romance, strategy, and social dynamics.

But nowadays, that alone is enough to trigger problems, especially when the rules are vague… or just plain unclear.

🧩 So What Happens Next?

We’re doing everything we can to keep B.E.S.T available in the form you know and love — without compromise.

But let’s be honest: 🎭 The future is a bit uncertain.

We’re exploring different options — but one thing is clear: we’re not giving up.

B.E.S.T wasn’t supposed to go beyond this arc. It was a one-shot, originally. But your support, the characters, the world, and everything we’ve built together made us want to go further. Deeper. Bigger.

We’ve seen the questions on the forums about a sequel or a “Season 2.”

Let’s clear a few things up:

• The price of the game will not change. This was an Early Access project shaped by your feedback — and we’re staying true to that.

• The future is uncertain. A month before launch, we don’t even know if we’ll be able to release the full version without interference. So making long-term plans is risky.

BUT — we’ve talked to players about what some would call a “Season 2.”

We’re not fond of that term. If the B.E.S.T is over, then the game is over. Instead, we think in terms of story arcs.

If we decide to continue the story — a new chapter, a new challenge — it would be in a new, upgraded engine, with proper 4K support, better features, and all the lessons learned from this development.

We won’t be making paid DLC for B.E.S.T. It doesn’t make sense right now, especially with the risks we’re facing.

Again: we have no idea what’s coming. So for now, we’re focused on one thing only — releasing the full version.

The rest — including a possible Episode 6 — will depend entirely on how well the release goes, and what the platform climate looks like afterward.

We’re even considering a “censored” version for general audiences, just to be safe…

Bad news today...

Hi B.E.S.T.I.E.S!

Today, our animation computer is having some issues. The 4090 fans stopped working, and we had to send it in for repairs (the card was reaching over 95°C while rendering...). Luckily, it doesn’t seem to have burned out, and since it’s still under warranty, we took it to the repair shop. Now, we just have to wait before we can use the computer again…

We were in the middle of working on the last scene, so everything will now be done on the main computer—renders and animations without a queue. We hope to finish everything that still needs to be done in a few days…

We’ll let you know as soon as we get our card back.

DEVLOG 6 : EPISODE 4 !

*Hey B.E.S.T.I.E.S!*

A quick update on the progress of the episode!

So, the match is finally over. It was a huge part of the episode, with animations and a lot of images.
We’ve added variations based on your choices in previous episodes (whether you trained or not, etc.), and the outcome depends on these choices… but not only that!


We’ve also completed what we talked about last time:

*THE SPECIALIZATION TREE!*

This system unlocks before the match and allows you to "specialize" once you reach 10 points in a chosen branch.
For example, if you have 10 points in Sports, you can unlock the SPORTS specialization.
During the match, there is a unique action tied to this specialization, which changes the way the match plays out.


So, the match has variations based on both your past choices AND the specialization(s) you have activated!

In the next episode, we’ll be adding *talents* to these specializations. That means every 5 points, you’ll be able to unlock additional talents, which will provide extra content depending on what you activate.

All of this helps give more weight to the stats in the game and allows for greater customization of your character!



### Now that the match is over, what’s left to do?

- We have *2 more scenes* to complete in terms of renders and animations.
- Translations need to be done.
- Music and sound effects need to be integrated.

*And that’s it!*

Lastly, we will be doing the company’s *financial review* for this first year. I’ll share some insights on the financial side of things to remain transparent with you all!

Beta is finished, we're on part 2 !

Hello B.E.S.T.I.E.S!

Part 1 is complete, and we’re now working on Part 2! The scenes are already written, the coding is partly done—what’s left are the images and animations.

New Feature Coming in Part 2: The Talent Tree!
Once you reach 10 points in a stat (Buddy, Education, Sport, or Temperament), you’ll unlock the talent tree for that stat. You’ll then be able to choose one talent from the available options, with additional talents becoming available every 5 points.

These talents will open up new possibilities in certain scenes or challenges, creating unique variations depending on the talents you use.

For example: during a match, if you’ve unlocked the Resistance talent in the Sport category, you’ll be able to keep going even after a rough tackle. While others might lose the ball, you’ll stay on your feet and continue the action.

That’s the kind of gameplay depth we’re aiming for!

I truly hope you're enjoying this festive season! Lots of gifts and new games to try out, right?
As for us, things are speeding up!

The first part of Episode 4 is complete and will move into testing once we've ironed out the coding issues with the new challenge we’ve prepared for you!

We’ve also made plenty of UI adjustments to the in-game phone to offer you more interactions. Since it’s a foundational update, we’ve done our best to get it right so we won’t need to revisit it later, allowing us to focus on advancing the story.

You’ve already seen our new application, OnlyStan.
We’ve also added a "biography" section for the game’s characters. You saw the initial version last time—now here’s the "final" version:





Initially, we had a white background... but several players suggested a "dark mode" or a less bright color to reduce eye strain. So, we’ve tried a few options, and this is where you come in:

WHICH COLOR DO YOU PREFER? The original white? The more formal gray? The blue that matches the game’s color scheme? Or the retro-style pink? Let us know your choice in the comments!

Here’s the "final" design for the character profile page:

The little hearts update dynamically based on your relationship progress with each character. These features lay the groundwork for the characters, so please share your thoughts! We’re excited to hear from you.



Now, we’re moving on to the second part of Episode 4, which will be far less "technical" and much more visual.

Part 2 will focus on visuals, renders, animations, and the second match. While Part 1 undergoes testing to ensure all the changes to the phone and the new challenge function smoothly and don’t corrupt your saves, we’ll be advancing Part 2. Our main goal is to deliver the full episode before the next Visual Novel Festival in March.

As for our roadmap this year, here’s the plan:

• Complete Episode 4 by early March at the latest.

• Episode 5 by July at the latest.

• Episode 6 by December at the latest (including a rework of Episode 1’s translation).

We’re really aiming to stick to these deadlines and deliver as much content as possible throughout the year to keep the adventure going.

Regarding the game, more and more of you are playing, and we thank you for that! The game’s review score is steadily climbing (77% positive) as it works its way back to its original score (83%) before Episode 3 and the quiz. 😉 Thanks to the adjustments we made and the option for players to participate or skip challenges, it seems we’ve found a good balance that satisfies more players.

If you haven’t already, please consider leaving a review on Steam to share your thoughts and, if you’re enjoying the game, to support us and help boost the score back to 80%, which would restore our "Very Positive" rating!

Today is last day with renders for part 1 ! Next week will be about translation. Some tests and bugs remaining for the trial but It should be okay in one or 2 weeks for release of the beta part 1. !!! Episode 4 Part 1 : Localization and translation

Just a little message to give you news about Part 1, we need some last tests but we have already finished the localization in english and will make the translation in french in a few days. With christmas and the new year coming, we hope to deliver you the beta to test about January 10th.

PLease note it is a BETA with a lot of new functionalities to test, trials and phone apps. That could not work as intended, so if you don't want to TEST it, wait the complete episode for PLAYING it :)
