1 quick tip to IMMEDIATELY improve your art!

Hello eveyone!

Hope you are all doing well today~ I'm excited to share a tutorial with you regarding a topic that I think is very important! The subject is gesture drawing and I thought it'd be nice to return to some art fundamentals because not only are they useful, but they influence any kind of art you make.

If you aren't familiar with gesture drawings, they're basically quick (usually 30 sec-5 min) sketches of a subject that capture the general pose, movement, and life. They aren't meant to be detailed (although you can render it as much as you want) and are incredibly helpful with loosening up your poses if you find your characters are looking stiff. You can find subjects at life-drawing classes, people-watching, or using online resources! Quickposes is one of my favorite sites to use.  With all that being said let's not put it off for any longer and jump into the tutorial! :D

I've gotten back into gesture drawing recently and its been immensely helpful! I've been having trouble with my poses looking too awkward and stiff. Adding gesture drawings back into my routine have loosened up my lines and given me more confidence when sketching.

If you find even your gestures are looking too stiff or unnatural, it's okay! Just keep practicing and learning how the body contorts and moves. Over time your brain will become accustomed to these lines and better understand where to position different limbs and their proportions. Practice makes perfect, you can do it! >:D

Hope this tutorial was useful and I'll see you soon in my next post! Thank you for your support and have a lovely day~

Love,

Vicki
