Tera has understood the puzzle metaphor, and also understands now how the Boy thinks, because of his upbringing (thanks to his grandmother). His question about the piece of his own puzzle shows it!
About Tera's joke, I'm just gonna copy/past what my proofreader said about it: "The boy hit home hard and bullseye with his remark about Tera’s past... and Tera is getting defensive by making fun of the whole thing. Distracting the boy of some sort without lashing out in a mean way"
I love how my character are all very shy and secret about their feelings.
The scene when Tera jumps on the Boy was completely different at first, tomorrow or so I'll post the panel, it's a cute one haha. Softer, but I needed to highlight something that might elude the reader at first: the fact that Tera plays with the Boy a little too roughly, because he's a big boy and a Black Death. He's always very gentle with him, but when it's time to play "You wanna fight?!" his hunter mode kicks in haha. Like he can't help, doesn't even realizing it. The way he jumps on the Boy actually refers to the scene he jumps on Kain (the Rabbit) after they burned the guy on the roof.
I made it clearer with the Boy saying "I'm not one of your guys".
You could see the tickles part as a way for Tera to rebalance his behavior, like he just realized he couldn't play too hard.
But the whole scene is meant to show an evolution in their relationship.
Proofreader: "(...) a play-fight is going on and Tera is doing something to provoke/warrant a reaction from the Boy. And in a sub-sub-sub-sub-text, it could also refer not just to the very obvious playfight, but also to the hidden transformation going on with those two. Tera revealed a lot. So did the Boy with his drawings – and sharing his/Annas thoughts. And answering Teras question in all honesty.
So yes, change. Progress. Evolution. Transformation. Something is happening."
They now fight playfully because they trust each other.
To accentuate it, the full page of the Boy and Tera laying on the floor is an echo to page 261, chapter 6. Back then, the Boy did lay down next to Tera (not this close) but the big boy was asleep, he was no longer a threat. Now he's fully awake, the just 'fought', and still the Boy rests on him.
The "oh" on the last panel, it's because it cuts RIGHT before the big reveal on the Boy's past. I don't know if the whole monologue will fit in the upcoming 8pages but... we'll learn a LOT.
And oh baby, I've been waiting for this part. We finally should be able to understand so many things about the Boy. I'm gonna be damn chatty guys haha-

The first time I didn’t realise chapter 1 was so funny, was too engrossed in the story😂 I think I am addicted to this story now! @z-pico: have you worked on any other story? Is there other stuff from you I can binge on while I wait for the update? I have art withdrawal symptoms 🫠

Your comic makes every month a little brighter with a new update and I love reading about your boys. It's such a wonderful and thought through storybuild, making the characters feel real. I appreciate all your hard work. It made me start drawing again after a long break. Thank you for giving me back my motivation to be creative again, too! And thank you for a new little obsession that I share with a friend, forcing them to read the story too so I have someone to talk about it with! haha (´∀｀)♡

If that isn’t trust I don’t know what is. “… you’re a kind boy”. And by realizing that, I imagine Tera has a certain longing to be on the receiving end of that remarkable character trait. To deserve it. To be worth it – even though he deems himself a bad person. Maybe Tera needed that puzzle piece (of the boy) to finally get a hold on what drew him towards the boy from the very start. Now that it settled in and he said it out loud, being finally able to voice this gut feeling(s) he had all along… it’s a piece of the puzzle “the boy”. Kindness. A rather small word - just like the boy is physically such a small frame compared to Tera and his pals - and yet it holds so much power. Just like the boy. He is strong. And I believe that’s something else Tera can very well respect, since it is key in the world Tera lives in. After all, he never hurt the boy, no matter what he had to endure (including scarring and getting tasered, bitten… you know the list is getting even longer with almost each update). Tera is not just a big softie, all bark no bite, rather contrary, but around the boy he is always adjusting, picking up even the little things and tell-tales and bringing it (himself) down a notch (just like in the logo of the comic…). He’s adapting – even though it doesn’t mean it would stop him from trying for intimidating entrances… (luckily… yanno?!). Awesome update! Thank you so much.

The frame where Tera jumped at the boy and the frame where they lay down made me scream.🫣🤣 I’m looking forward to more development of their relationship.
