Johnny, I don't know if you're still reading replies to these old videos, but the hat that looks like a single piece of leather pressed down around the head with a strap or twine tied around it to give it shape is called a "hillbilly hat." They were made popular over here in the backwoods of Appalachia because they're so easy to make from leftover bits and material without any real skill.
