Tried as she might, she couldn't fight against the currents taking her away, and after a while, Zooey started to get tired, and with her arms are getting heavy, specially with an unconscious fox around her, she starts to flail, and scream for help, but in the middle of the ocean, and the beach so far away from them, nobody could hear her desperate attempts of help, and she slowly sinks back underwater. Zooey still didn't give up, even if she had difficulties moving, she tried to swim back up with all her might. Her hand managed to pierce the surface for a second, but it quickly sank back down. She was quickly starting to go low on breath, and she started to flail once again to try to get back up, but it was pointless, it only caused her to sink even further with Tails, who was still out in her arms. Eventually, Zooey stopped moving. She realized her chances of going back up, at that point, was most likely, impossible. With no more air to spare, and slowly losing consciousness, she realizes this might be it. She pulls Tails into a hug, and closes her eyes, waiting for the inevitable to happen. At one moment, she felt the currents carrying them somewhere else, was it sending them back to the island? Or even further away from it? Before she could even think about it, she blacks out with Tails still in her arms. After the last of her bubbles pierced through the ocean, peace finally returned to the surface of the ocean. Nobody witnessed the two foxes demise at the beach. The only signs that something horrible might've happened to them, was an empty picnic set at the beach, followed by some footprints that lead to the ocean, and a board at the entrance of the beach, showing now visibly that there are strong currents today, and the ocean needs to be avoided. Is this truly the end? ------- テイルズを救うため、ゾーイは泳いで島に戻るが、海流が二人を反対方向へ運んでいるようだ。しかし、海流が二人を逆方向へ連れて行ってしまうようだ。しばらくすると、ズーイは疲れ始め、腕が重くなり、特に意識のないキツネを抱え、助けを求めて暴れだす。 それでもズーイはあきらめず、動きづらくても、全力で泳いで上がろうとする。一瞬、手が水面に突き刺さったが、すぐに沈んでしまった。息も絶え絶えになり、またもや暴れだすが、それも無意味で、腕の中で気を失ったままのテイルスと一緒にさらに沈んでいくだけである。やがて、ズーイは動きを止めた。このままでは、もう上がるのは無理だと思ったのだ。もう空気はなく、意識は徐々に薄れていき、彼女はもうだめかもしれないと思った。テイルスに抱きつき、目を閉じて、起こるべくして起こったことを待つ。ある瞬間、海流が二人をどこかへ運んでいくのを感じた。それとも、もっと遠くへ？そう考える間もなく、彼女はテイルスに抱かれたまま気を失った。 泡が海を突き破り、ようやく海面が平和になった。海岸で二匹のキツネが死んでいるのを目撃した者はいない。ただ、浜辺にはピクニックセットが置かれ、海へ続く足跡があり、浜辺の入り口には、今日は海流が強いので海には近づかないようにと、目に見える形でボードが置かれていたのである。 これで本当に終わりなのだろうか。
