Been looking everywhere, over the course of weeks, for this. I feel like this short story perfectly describes the Chozo's attempts at survival.

2026-01-15 20:28:01 +0000 UTCA dim light fills the shack. The figure cackles as they stir the bubbling cauldron before them. "There is no such thing as an elixir of immortality." they bellow, "At least not in a static conventional sense. To create it, one must surrender to the unpredictability of chaos." The figure rolls a crude bauble on the damp wooden table and takes a moment to observe it before adding another ingredient to the brew. "For it is in that chaos that we are granted a random possibility that we may near such a concoction, if the wheel of fate decides it so. Ah, perhaps this will do." they say, before taking a sip from the cauldron. For just a moment, there can be seen an expression of absolute joy on the figure's visage before it disappears and they begin letting off a faint glow. "Alas, it does not seem the universe has seen it fit to grant me the gift I seek, but the one it deems I deserve. Let us hope it may smile upon you where it has refused to do so for me." The shack fills with light. When it begins to dim, the figure can no longer be seen and a thought starts to burrow its way into your mind, "I know what they forgot, I can succeed where they had failed." Confident, you begin adding ingredients to the brew. The work must be completed, but it seems it can wait a moment. You have a visitor.

Would probably take quite a few given the death toll in this city, and Drich will probably have made some actual proper wargear by then to give a real impression

2026-01-14 14:42:27 +0000 UTCI mean, right now is foundation establishment. Drich built the tools to build the tools, and now they're working on the next chain down of the tools to build the tools. Once the Crystal is finished I anticipate an evaluation point in the narrative, as the Magical Focus/Storage Device will allow for some Shenanigans as it were. That of course assumes that outside factors don't end up forcing things, so to speak.

Within 12 hours of an attempted Hit, the one who actually arranged the attack ended up dead, in the middle of their secured work area, with no evidence about how their security was bypassed. That type of things speaks volumes about the reach and turn around time of the Bird.

2026-01-14 14:05:25 +0000 UTCThis all good and all…but what’s the mc endgame exactly? Take over the city? Wage war against the world? Or just attempt his own slice of heaven? There is a rather lacking feeling of any long term plan stated in the story and it’s getting a tad annoying., nothing against the author, your work is stupendous, I just argue you should clarify the endgame in a future chapter or at least hint towards it.
