I do prefer Guy Jenkins and Andy Hamilton's 90's sitcom Drop the Dead Donkey about a tv news team which filmed the week it was broadcast and included last minutes topical jokes alongside the main plot.

2025-01-26 07:15:15 +0000 UTCLove this sitcom ❤️ The kids are the best 😂 I haven’t got kids yet, but when this show first came out, we were all saying how realistic it is, with all the questions they ask and when they embarrass their parents! This is what Guy Jenkin (one of the two guys who wrote, directed and produced the show) said about the children’s performances: “You rarely get the feeling that children in sitcoms are real. They tend to be the same type of character—the smartarse who says adult things—and they are rooted to the spot, staring at the camera, because they've been told to stand in one place and say the lines. We decided to attempt to do something that hadn't been tried before, bounced some ideas around and we got very keen on this idea of involving improvisation very quickly” I personally think it gets better after the first series, that being said the first series is still good! But yeah, there’s some brilliant episodes and moments to come 😄 It’s also worth noting that even though it is a sitcom, in some ways it‘s also considered a comedy drama, so there will be moments with less laughs compared to other sitcoms 😊
