It was a bit hard to follow, but basically the killer was a radical animal rights activist who sent fan mail to the daughter-in-law in order to get the house address. She made a typo when sending him the address, which is how they knew he sent the poisoned letter which contained that same typo, but she didn't have anything to do with the murder plot
