Fallen Máni: Gift

Blasted wolf! You can't even do all you're worth for!

Though Dagr spoke pure venom, this did make Hati's ears drop. Manuel touched the wolf's jaw and raised it.

"Don't listen to him. You don't need a purpose to live, be happy. A-and if you do, you can find it somewhere that doesn't end in tragedy, that doesn't make you his slave."

Hati's tail began to wag once more.

"Then I must gift you, oh Moon" he said, regality not diminuished by the hint of a whimper, "where once I'd make you bleed, I shall protect you. Forever and always."

"Pfft so you'll be his watch dog?" Sköll mocked, "Pathetic, brother."

Fine! If you will not end this nonsense I'll kill the Moon again and again and again, never let him reborn for more than a second!

At that Dagr cast a bolt of light, but that was intercepted by Sif's hair, reflected and refracted into a burst of rainbow.

"You are not welcome here, day" she said, "Leave, for now all gods see you for who you truly are."

"Yeah, let my hammer crack your bones!"

Thor throw Mjölnir, but it dissipated into the brilliant light, the aim impossible for the god's eyes.

Dagr could only laugh.

Oh brute, always mindless strength. None of you can harm me, none of you can kill me. Not Odin even if he were to give a damn!

"Actually not true" Sköll interjected, "See, all of us children of Loki know your poison, the humble mistletoe."

"Wait, like Baldr?" Jonathan asked.

"Duh, they are the same god" Sköll said, "Read Jacob Grimm's treatise."

What are you doing!?

"I'm bored with the mushy stuff and so I'm making things interesting again."

"Here"Sif handed Bil a mistletoe branch "Aim true."

Panicking, Dagr flared, so much so that the air began to break apart from the radiation.

"I'll help you Bil" Hjúki said.

Both closed their eyes, and in doing so they got a perfect afterimage of the radiant god.

And so they aimed true.

Dagr screamed, as the mistletoe pierced his heart. And from his wound a golden light burst forth from the white light: the sun herself.

"Sól!" Manuel exclaimed.

She descended down to him and the siblings, the sun and moon, hugged, reuinited at last.

"Dagr fled" Hati said, "Shall I hunt him?"

"If you feel like it" Manuel said, "You are not my slave."

"I know, but it shall be my purpose now."

"I sure have missed a lot" Sól giggled.

"Yes you have, sis, yes you have."

No sooner that Manuel said that, Hati was gone, after new prey.
