I really enjoyed this episode. The new tech episodes are great, and naturally drive the theme of this show, but these writers are no-doubt genius at what they do, and seeing them explore a more realistic plot like this one is very exciting.

2023-08-15 11:55:32 +0000 UTCMoving away from the constrains of 'technology gone wrong' has rejuvenated the show. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool. The previous series was clearly running on fumes, because they had wrung the 'technology gone wrong' well dry. This series is a return to form.

2023-08-10 00:25:34 +0000 UTCA couple of points of interest during the final scene... 1/ As Davis is sat alone upon the couch and looking at his Mother's note; the framing of the shot and Davis' outfit are clearly based upon the painting 'Le Suicidé' by the artist Édouard Manet, which is a paitning depicting a man's suicide. The implication being that Davis' will commit suicide that night. 2/ After reading his Mother's farewell note, Davis toasts a class of champagne towards his BAFTA award, which is opposite him. The BAFTA is of course a model of a mask. Davis' Mother, Janet, wore a mask when she tortured and murdered people. Therefore, Davis is affectedly toasting to his deceased Mother, just prior to killing himself.

2023-08-10 00:23:16 +0000 UTCI love the touch of the Mother faintly humming the tune that was playing as she entered the sex dungeon, when she's preparing the mince for the cottage pie. She's having fond memories of torturing people because the mince reminds her of the flesh of her victims.

2023-08-09 23:57:41 +0000 UTCVery good episode! What a throwback Bergerac is! I live on the island of Jersey, (old Jersey) and seeing the shot of our island on the Bergerac opening screen was cool!

2023-08-09 07:13:09 +0000 UTCAnother Easter egg from the previous episode was that when Joan was trying to find something to watch on Streamberry, one of the choices that comes up is the Loch Henry documentary :)

2023-08-09 03:09:17 +0000 UTCThat was great. I've heard some complaints that this season moves away from the dangers of new technology but if this was one of those episodes then I disagree. It dealt with the modern obsession with exploiting true crime for entertainment such as the recent Dahmer dramatisation and docuseries and other such stories. That's been accelerated by streaming platforms to a great extent. There was a little easter egg I caught as well at the awards ceremony where one of the nominations was Euthanasia : The Junipero Project which was in reference to the San Junipero episode. A really fun/creepy episode overall.
