๐Ÿ˜€ there are so many great ones, we had it on VHS, my brother and I must have watched it 20 times when we were younger. I remember most of them word for word ๐Ÿ˜…

When Vyvyan is building his submarine you see them drowning outside of the window https://64.media.tumblr.com/4d68b77688dcb84b22251901b156280f/tumblr_o9784grcmB1rkivxzo6_r1_400.gifv

Canโ€™t wait for series 2, itโ€™s definitely stronger than series 1 ๐Ÿ˜Š Series 2 episode 1 - Bambi - is probably the one people have said is their favourite, itโ€™s a brilliant episode ๐Ÿ˜„ Some info on things that feature in the episode: University Challenge is a British quiz show featuring two different universities going head to head each week answering difficult questions, so usually the students are extremely intelligent/nerdy/eccentric! The host at the time was called Bamber Gasgoine, but the characters refer to him as Bambi ๐Ÿ˜† Made sense to give you that info before you watch it next week, to save you being confused/you can enjoy it that bit more ๐Ÿ˜ Also, I have to ask - you watched Bottom Fluff from series 1 last year, do you think youโ€™ll watch the Fluff from series 2 and 3? Theyโ€™re both hilarious and well worth watching ๐Ÿ˜‚ (even better than series 1 Fluff IMO), I know you finished Bottom a while ago but I doubt thereโ€™d be any complaints!

Did not make that connection myself, but did start thinking of Monty Python when I was watching this reaction. Well caught sir. And in thinking about Python I did think about how that team had been working on any number of hows for over a decade before they got their shot at a series. The team on The Young Ones never had that kind of time to gather experience so I don't mind that the first series is rough, especially as they might not have done so many crazy stunts had they know how tough it would be to stage in front of a live audience.

Funny That

The Narnia books are from the 50s. They did a cartoon movie in the late 70s. Then a BBC production of a miniseries which was very popular in the 80s. Then the big Hollywood movies you mentioned. They went unfinished though due to lots of complications in movie rights. Its just been given a thumbs up for a Netflix series reboot I believe. They are aimed at kids but theres several things in there thatd make em atleast 12+ rated instead of PG similar to the latter Harry Potter films

Danny

The opening scene with the "Dominus ad nauseam" chanting is an affectionate Monty Python homage, complete with Neil whacking himself in the face (referencing the monks in Holy Grail who sing "Pie Iesu domine, dona eis requiem" and hit themselves with the Bible). Naturally, it irks the history pedant in me that they're meant to be Puritans, and no self-respecting Puritan would be caught chanting in Latin unless he wanted his mates to burn him as a Catholic, but on the lengthy list of Things In The Young Ones That Take Slight Liberties With Reality, that one probably ranks near the bottom. The second series is definitely fun, they had about eighteen months to hone the format and sharpen the writing after Series 1, and you can see the difference right from the first episode.
