The Bourne Identity PG13 2002 Action/Thriller 1h 59m

Comments

This movie was a big deal back in the day, it seems pretty standard now, but it was the one that set that standard.

I think the Bourne movies were brilliant and agree with another commenter that they really raised the standards in this genre. Casino Royale was widely seen as a 'gritty' reaction to the Bourne films. And the shaky-cam thing became ubiquitous, which is less of a good thing. People started using it without considering whether it was necessary. Another, very different, Matt Damon film from around then is The Talented Mr Ripley. Well worth a watch. But I just think comedies are much better suited to this channel and some consideration should be made for the tastes of the person reacting. IMO it makes for a more interesting reaction. So I'd rather see a reaction to any of the many, many great comedy films that haven't yet made it into the vote(even though Titanic somehow did).

I don't usually check out the movies that often. Had to see if you enjoyed this one. Glad to see that you really did enjoy it a whole ton. While I feel this has just enough closure if one wants to leave it there. I would definitely recommend you complete the trilogy for more of the story. Either on the channel or privately if there's not the support for it.

I will add the others to my list thanks bud. The fight scenes in this were really well done 👍

Josh may know him from X-Men 2, where he played Stryker!

There was a pretty good (for a movie license at least!) video game adaption on Xbox 360 and PS3 called The Bourne Conspiracy. Sadly it didn't feature the actors' likenesses but it did allow you to experience an extended sequence leading up to the mission on Wombosi's boat in addition to the events of the first movie. The melee combat had some cool environmental takedowns, too! Sadly it wasn't successful enough to get any sequels that covered the other books/movies.

The JB thing is mentioned in Kingsman, along with how Jack Bauer also has those same initials!

Who the f*ck is Clive Warren, and where’s Rebecca De Mornay? 😆

If you liked this I reckon you'd like The Hunt For Red October too. Those Jack Ryan films are great CIA films. Patriot games and Clear And Present Danger follow it.

I definitely recommend the next 2 films in the series. So it's a trilogy. The second one is good as well and the 3rd one is even better even if they all do sort of follow the same theme. But it's a quest to find out who he is. Ty his was the first mainstream film really that did these type of fight scenes and films have been following suit ever since.

Chris

I think of succession. Such a great show.

2nd one is Bourne Supremacy and 3rd is Bourne Ultimatum. Be good see 2nd one the polls next month. They did a 4th movie with Matt Damon near on 15 years after this, but majority pretend it doesn't exist as it isn't necessary. That goes double for the standalone movie of Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner instead

Danny

The sniper assassin is a young Clive Warren 😉😄

Every time I see Brian Cox (old guy CIA bloke) i just think of him in Red Dwarf 7 saying "Lister of Smeg" 😄 https://youtu.be/eDkpVClHqJI

One of the best spy thrillers ever made, which gave the increasingly lazy Bond franchise a big old kick in the butt. It's also interesting how both Jason Bourne and James Bond share the same initials, deliberate or not. As Danny mentioned, it's well worth adding the two sequels to the polls (or just check them out on your own time). Apart from the not so good shaky cam, they're extremely solid sequels that continue and conclude Bourne's story. Personally I prefer the original movie, but many think the next two are the best. Avoid the 4th 'Jason Bourne' final movie though, and the spin off with Jeremy Renner. They're only average carbon copies in comparison, and don't really push the story any further. The two sequels are all you need.
