He didn't describe his killer as visually impaired, he was talking about the old lady with the cane who he was waiting to chaperone. I think you might be a bit confused

Dan Shears

Peter Kay's character described his killer as "visually impaired" within the opening to the episode, yet the real killer was not visually impaired and it was never suggested that she was. That was a clear reason to subvert expectations, but doing so only works when the subversion makes sense. Was Rian Johnson a guest writer on this episode?

I feel like it didn't really 'need' a twist ending so it is a bit abrupt. But they made Maurice a little too sympathetic; he isn't unpleasant to anyone except being a bit too familiar with the hostess, and he is looking after the heart he got. Maybe they felt he couldn't die.

I know, the dog just went mental on it πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚ it never made me fear dogs though lol.

I only saw this episode for the first time about a week ago, honestly I loved it, Fiona Shaw's performance is great. I loved it right up until the very very end, that ending just seemed so abrupt and not very satisfying. I'll watch it again for the reaction and maybe I'll have picked up on something I missed.

The final twist (that Maurice was not murdered since it is Jean's heart in his stolen art exhibition) does not come out of nowhere. Just after Jean says that it's time to complete Elliot's masterpiece, yet before she injects Maurice, it can be seen that he's squeezing his right hand through the red binding tapes.

Thanks bud. The first one wasn't bad and had an interesting plot but the others were just too much. I will have to check that book out thanks for the recommendation πŸ‘

Oh no that would make anyone terrified of dolls too 🀣 that is wild too that the dog ran and started tearing it apart lol. Not really a fan of dolls myself, they are just creepy.

Thanks bud, I am looking forward to it πŸ‘

Definitely with you on the Saw films; the first is a genuinely well-written homage to Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" (which this IN9 episode is also clearly riffing on, with a mention of Christie halfway through the episode), but the sequels just rapidly degenerated into vacuous torture-porn. Incidentally, And Then There Were None is a real masterpiece if you want a gripping mystery novel to read or hear on audiobook. The original edition from the 1930s was, to say the least, very much a product of its time (Christie seemed dedicated to cramming as many racial slurs into it as humanly possible), but modern editions have expunged all that stuff and just left the page-turning mystery-thriller at the heart of it. Highly recommended.

Decent episode imo, I do like the Agatha Christie-like plot of a bunch of strangers being together and getting picked off one by one but I feel like there's something missing. I think it could have been creepier given the setting and the mannequins etc, I can't quite put my finger on it. Mannequins and dolls scare me. I think it stems from when I was a kid, my family used to go to this pub occasionally, which was on a bridge and the beer garden had a park overlooking the canal. I was off by the bridge looking down at the canal through the railings and saw a baby doll lying on the path near the water. I thought it was a real baby (I was only about 4/5 lol) I was scared and was going to tell my mum when I heard a dog barking like crazy and it ran up and grabbed the doll in his mouth and he started biting the doll's limbs off. It terrified me at the time and I hated going back to that pub for years after. For some reason I never told my parents how much it had scared me and used to feel sick before we'd go there. My mum assured me it was only a doll etc at the time but I still couldn't get over it, even now when someone very occasionally mentions the name of that pub I feel a bit of a weird chill go through me :D You'd think it would leave me with a fear of DOGS if anything but no, it's dolls that freak me out. And mannequins, which I suppose are just big dolls really. I think that's partly why I expected this one to scare me a bit more than it did, all the mannequin body parts being around etc and the Agatha Christie vibes but it fell a bit flat for me.
