Dev Update 21-05-22

Hey, Speed here. I was thinking about using something else for the dev update this time, instead of typing all the information, I thought, why not create a simple bar chart thing for the progress of Episode 2...

STORY:  As I have already told you in the past dev updates, I focused on the story more this time and completed it. The only reason it's not complete in the bar chart is cause I wanted to rewrite one scene.

SCENES: Right now, I'm still grinding for renders, I think in 5 or more days, I will be able to complete all scenes. When I say the scene that means a file that is yet to be rendered. (Till now, I have completed 402 scenes.)

CODING: Now coding is not that problematic for me, Renpy is very easy, so I will be focusing on coding after I'm done with rendering all the scenes.

RENDERS: By now I have completed 289 renders, a long way to go... But after I'm done making scenes, the system will only focus on creating renders quickly as possible.

Excellent. I don't know about anyone else, but to me this is the best method of reporting progress. A simple bar chart with concise notes underneath adding a bit of detail where you consider supplementary information relevant or desirable. It would perhaps be great if these could be triggered by progress achieved, rather than a regular timescale where often we end up getting a lot of information for information's sake. So anyway, in a given release cycle you'd produce the first chart/report when you're approximately one quarter of the way along the road, second when you feel you've reached roughly halfway, then the third report when threequarters of the way there and we can all excitingly see the home stretch...and then completion and the release date. That way everyone can see regular progress, issues and any delays and neither you nor we have the problem most creators/patrons have with setting a specific expectation of release by a stated deadline. These charts/reports will be enough for us to see and get a feel for how things are progressing or if not what problems have been encountered and thus approximately when an actual release might be forthcoming. Sorry this is long winded and is no doubt totally open to the criticism of reinventing the wheel, but it is a hopefully constructive idea, just thrown out here for consideration, discussion and/or consignment to the rubbish bin of history...no commitments, no expectations. Just trying to help, that's all.
